School Site Council Parent Representatives Elected!
Thank you for voting for your parent representatives for School Site Council (SCC).
The following parents have been elected to represent you on our SSC:
- Rooha Troutman
- Wendy Carey
- Amit Mishal.
The SSC is required for schools receiving categorical funds. These funds are used to supplement the regular school program. The purpose of the SSC is to develop and approve the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA); which is a comprehensive plan designed to improve the effectiveness of the school program. In order to accomplish this task, the SSC meets a minimum of four times a year to assess student needs, develop and approve the SPSA including categorical budgets, and monitor its implementation.
Our first SCC meeting is on September 27th at 2:40 PM virtually. The agenda and link will be provided next newsletter.
Reflections - I Will Change the World By
AHES students have an opportunity to participate in the National PTA Reflections to explore the arts and themselves to this year's theme "I Will Change the World by..."
Entries are due by October 10th. For more information regarding rules, requirements, and entry. Please see the attached PDF. More information will be released regarding the submission of the art. Last year, electronic submission was required, this year we are still waiting to hear from the District Reflections Chair on the procedure.
We can't wait to see what our students create!

COVID-19 STUDENT TESTING
The District is pleased to begin offering all students COVID-19 testing 2 times a week to all interested. All students are strongly encouraged to participate in the District COVID-19 testing program. This type of surveillance testing program is recommended by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to mitigate spread of COVID-19 in the school community. The OUSD COVID-19 Testing Program is intended to continue maximizing the good health and safety of our school community.
Testing is typically Monday and Thursday. Additional information can be found on the attached flyer below. Register your student HERE
COVID-19 Relief Funding Survey
We are currently requesting our community, students, staff and families, to provide input on how you would like to see additional COVID relief funding and additional Local Control and Accountability Plan funding that we are receiving this year only. We have already received input from this survey to consider: shade structures, HEPA portable filters, additional staff to reduce student to staff ratios, athletic facility upgrades, summer school for elementary, bottle filling stations, instructional software subscriptions, counselors, and tutoring. So please take a moment and let us know your thoughts!
