Language Arts
Students will be presenting their projects on Japan to the class on Wed., Thur., and Fri. Your child may need to bring some items from home. Please ask your child about the plans.
The questions that groups will be answering are:
What would school be like in Japan?
What would a garden look like in Japan?
What do they eat in Japan?
What crafts would I create in Japan?
How would I celebrate in Japan?
Spelling and Vocabulary
We have completed all spelling and vocabulary words.
There will be no more spelling or vocabulary tests.
Math
We will continue to work with arrays, tangrams, and odd and even numbers. We also will continue to work with word problems.
Please work on math addition and subtraction facts at home. Students must be able to complete 20 problems in one minute in order to receive a 4 on the report card at the end of the year.

Homework
There will be no more homework grids for the rest of the year. Please continue to work on improving skills at home. Students should be completing these activities:
- Studying spelling words
- Listening, Reading and Testing with Raz-Kids
- Using all subjects of Moby Max
- Using Ticket to read for Phonics Skills
- Reading
- Practicing Math Facts

Returning Students
Returning students grades 1st-10th will begin online registration May 3rd. A link and code will be emailed to you after 4:00 PM on May 2nd. You will also find information at www.trussvillecityschools.com under online registration.

As warm weather approaches, we want you to take an active role in reducing your exposure to mosquitoes. To avoid viruses transmitted by mosquitoes, use THIS checklist to reduce sources of water in yard which are potential breeding sites. A coloring book, provided HERE, can involve the entire family in prevention measures. The coloring book will be provided for Prk-3rd grade. SCHOOL EXCUSES:
Each student is allowed 6 parent excuses per year (this is a change from years past). Parent excuses can be a hand written note or you may email the excuse to your child’s teacher and copy the excuse to: PPattendance@trussvillecityschools.com.
An ORIGINAL doctor’s excuse may be turned in from the parent by the student. Doctor’s excuses may be faxed to 205-228-3201 ONLY by the doctor’s office. We can NOT accept a faxed doctor’s excuse from a parent.
All excuses MUST be turned in within 3 days of the absence.
