Principal's Message...
It was a weekend filled with pride, as SK soccer teams completed incredible seasons. Congratulations to State Champions- Curtis Corner Middle School Boys Soccer Team for their win and to CCMS Girls Soccer Team and all the coaches for a wonderful soccer season!
Saturday, our South Kingstown Rebels defeated Cumberland to win the Girls Soccer Division I Championship. According to the Providence Journal, this win ended a two decade title drought for South Kingstown. Congratulations to the coaches and the team, not only for their impressive win, but for believing they could achieve such a goal and for backing it up with the tough grind, teamwork and dedication needed to accomplish it- AMAZING!
These incredible players remind us of the power we can achieve through teamwork and the lessons we can learn from from overcoming adversity and grappling with grit. If we believe that ALL students can learn at high levels, and we back that goal up with the same tough grind, teamwork and dedication, the outcomes we achieve would be game changing and the world would notice us as global leaders in education.
When we present academic or social emotional learning challenges to our students, and model resilience, we guide them to understand that success rarely comes on the first try and that learning can and should be challenging. Achievement comes with grit. It happens when we seek challenges, despite our anxieties and push through those boundaries and barriers, using discipline, practice and teamwork.
The look on a child's face, when they are a giving a chance to triumph over something difficult, is priceless and is invaluable to building the confidence they need to prove they are capable of anything. This is what educators strive for, each and everyday. The photos captured during Saturday's Title Championship were inspirational. Thank you lady Rebels, for being role models for all of us in teaching and learning!
Wishing everyone a great week :)
Best always,
~Mrs. Komocar

Peace Dale's Safety Vestibule & Parking Lot Updates
Here is a construction progress report:
Construction has been scheduled to begin again outside, on 11/11. They will be working on the Canopy Roofing between November 11th-14th and then the Landscaping from November 15th-18th.
In order to provide the construction workers a more optimal space to work, we will be utilizing the front side door for all traffic coming in and out of the building after 3:30pm, and on weekends/holidays. Please note that anyone needing access to the building using the front doors will be able to do so, if needed.
Soon, they will begin inside work that will affect the main office area for a short time. They anticipate the work to last a few days and no longer than a week. Although we are excited to have a new front office, we know that the work will require our normal routines to change for a few days. Our office staff will happily be there to assist and I can always be reached at 401-360-1604 with any questions or concerns. Thank you.
The outside work should be completed by the end of November and the whole project is scheduled to be completed by the first of the year.
Our Parking Lot Project is still anticipated to begin in Summer of 2020.
We will continue to update the community, as necessary. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns: kkomocar@sksd-ri.net or 401-360-1604.

Writers Giving Peer Feedback- Grade 2
Grade 2 students from Ms. Wagner's class are currently studying nonfiction writing and are working on their second text that will connect with content they are learning in Science. Writers worked in small groups to provide both positive and constructive feedback to help their peers strengthen their writing. This practice helps writers learn to appreciate feedback as a gift, because it will help them produce better work.
