Hopkins Middle School Newsletter
September 3rd, 2020
From Mr. Stockwell
9/3/2020
Students and Parents,
We are making our way towards a more consistent school week. Thank you for your patience and questions so far this year. Here are some updates:
First, your student should be enrolled in Google Classrooms for every teacher except FLEX. That will be a total of 5 or 6 Classes for most. In addition, every parent should have received an email from your student’s first-hour teacher inviting you to be a “guardian” within the google classroom. This one invitation will open up access to ALL of your student’s google classrooms. You will receive daily or weekly updates on assignments. If you have not been invited, please reach out to your student’s first-hour teacher via email.
Next, I have been getting questions about the amount of belongings students are required to bring to school. After meeting with the teachers on this issue, here is our recommendation: Students only need as many binders/folders as they will need to stay organized. I recommend one three-ring binder with dividers or folders for each class inside. That should be enough to handle and organize the little amount of paperwork they may have. Nearly all of the assignments this year will be digital through Google Classroom.
Band students have the opportunity to drop off their instrument in our band storage room in the hallway next to the SRC room before heading to their first-hour class.
PE students have the opportunity to drop off their PE bags into designated areas in the gym bleachers before heading to their first-hour class.
This should reduce the number of items students need to carry with them throughout the day.
Finally, I want to outline the next week of instruction.
Friday 9/4: No School. There will not be assignments/instruction for ANY Hopkins students.
Monday 9/7: No School. There will not be assignments/instruction for ANY Hopkins students.
Tuesday 9/8: B-Day students report to school. A-Day and Remote students will log-in for the next lesson.
Wednesday 9/9: Remote Day for ALL Hopkins students.
Thursday 9/10: A-Day students report to school. B-Day and Remote students will log-in for the next lesson.
Friday 9/11: B-Day students report to school. A-Day and Remote students will log-in for the next lesson.
Thank you for a great start to the year. Enjoy the Labor Day weekend!
Sincerely,
Scott Stockwell
