SAS Update
October 4, 2019
THE WEEK AHEAD!
Family Mass
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6,
10:30 a.m.
All St. Ann students are requested to attend our first Family Mass of the year. The class with the most students in attendance IN UNIFORM will win a pizza party. Additionally, those who attend IN UNIFORM and participate in the Mass--serving, reading, ushering, singing in the choir--will receive a NUT card for a future out of uniform day.
Parent Meeting
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6,
11:30 a.m.
All parents and First Communion candidates will meet after 10:30 a.m. Mass in Church to go over the calendar and expectations for making the sacrament on May 9, 2020. We would love to have everyone join us at 10:30 Family Mass, too. Please don't forget to come back if you attend a different Mass this weekend!
Scholastic Book Fair
OCTOBER 7, 8, & 11
IN THE LIBRARY
Our Book Fair will be open to the public M/T from 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and from 8-Noon on Friday (closed during Mass). The children will have a chance to shop during the week (the shopping schedule came home today). We also need VIRTUS trained adult helpers--please visit the Book Fair SignUp link for the complete schedule and areas of need.
If you prefer to shop online, our link is active October 2-15. There is a larger, expanded selection available there, and your purchase will be shipped to the school for FREE!
VOLLEYBALL SIGNUPS
MONDAY, OCTOBER 7 &
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9 (LAST CHANCE!)
7:00 p.m. in the EXT. DAY ROOM (C3)
It's time to register your 4th-8th grade girls for volleyball! The program for Grades 4-5 is developmental in nature and focuses on building foundational skills. In Grades 6-8, the play becomes more competitive in nature, allowing students to hone their physical skills and prepare their minds and bodies for high school competition. Rosters need to be set, so it is very important to attend one of the two evenings. If you wish to download and pre-fill the paperwork, you can find forms here, under Athletics. Checks should be made payable to the St. Ann Sports Committee. FMI, call coordinator Robert Dabrowski, 708-418-5061.
Mid-Trimester Check In for Primary Parents
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, 6:00 p.m. in EXTENDED DAY
We would like to invite you to a quick mid-trimester check-in next Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Extended Day Room. We are interested to hear how you feel things are going for your students in K-4th grades, and we will have your children’s I-Ready assessments on hand so you may review them and ask any questions about how to interpret them.
Thank you to all of the parents who attended our Middle School check-in last night. If you were unable to join us, please feel free to attend the Primary check-in, as much of the same material will be covered. Call the office with any questions: 708-895-1661.
Grandparents & Special Person's Day
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11, 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Who is special to your child? A grandparent, aunt, uncle, a neighbor, YOU? Every student is invited to bring a special guest to school! The schedule is as follows:
- 7:30 a.m. Students arrive to school at the usual time.
- 8:30 a.m. Special guests are invited to join us in Church for our all-school Mass. Students will sit with their classes.
- 9:30 a.m. Talent Show will take place in the School Hall.
- 10:15 a.m. Special guests are welcome to visit the classrooms and bring their students to the Scholastic Book Fair in the School Library.
- 11:30 a.m. Special guests may sign their students out from their teachers. The Book Fair will remain open for more shopping. Children who will be remaining at school will proceed to Extended Day with their teachers.
Please help us with our planning by returning the RSVP form that came home in the Thursday envelope this week.
Pre-K Check-In
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 6:00 p.m. in EXTENDED DAY
We didn't forget about you, PreK parents! Your mid-trimester check-in will be the day after Columbus Day. Come and tell us how it's going!
Chili Cook-Off at Trunk or Treat
Is your chili the best? Now's your chance to prove it! Register at the Signup Link to be one of a dozen contestants who will compete in our first-ever Chili Cook-Off for bragging rights (and a prize!). Entry fee is only $10 and a large crock of your famous chili (made at home and brought in something in which you can keep it warm). Tasters will pay $5, and we will provide tasting bowls and spoons. We will have local celebrity judges, and tasters will also vote for a fan favorite. Bring on the chili!
Are You Sending in Your Stracks Receipts? Please ask others to save them for you too!
Collect Strack & VanTil Food Market register receipts dated between September 1, 2019 and March 2, 2020 to help St. Ann earn FREE educational rewards! Every classroom has a Collection Envelope, and we will be tallying the value of the receipts turned in. The class that brings in the most will win a prize!
