From the Guidance Department
- The Guidance Department will be running College Board Boot Camp and Common App Boot Camp on June 25th and June 26th for current juniors transitioning to senior year. Students will receive directions for sign-ups via email during the first week of June.
College Board connects students to college success and opportunity. It promotes excellence and equity. College Board supports a successful transition to college through programs and services in college readiness and college success including the SAT and Advanced Placement Program. Students will sign in to their Score Report to see SAT results and learn how to send Score Reports to Colleges. Students may register for an additional SAT test date, as well. Counselors will encourage college searches; financial aid searches and more.
CommonApp is a website used for college applications. Counselors will walk students through the process. They enter their information one time and use it to apply to multiple schools. There are more than 750 colleges that are members of CommonApp. (There are some exceptions.) Students will learn how to create an account; add schools; understand requirements, and start the application. This site also supports information on financial aid, scholarships and more. Students may be able to start their college essay with prompts from CommonApp.

Celebrating the Thunderbolt artists
Congratulations to Dina Louis for receiving First Place for the Short Story Contest. Dina received a certificate of recognition, a copy of Stephen King's On Writing, and a gift certificate.
Also, special thanks to Trinity Curran for submitting her original drawing to the Reflections Literary Magazine Cover Contest. She also received a certificate of recognition and a gift certificate to Blick Art Supplies.
Thanks to everyone who helped make Reflections a reality again for 2018. We raised over $650 dollars. Thanks go to all the teachers who contributed to our dress down days and the Cranston Teachers Alliance for their monetary support. A publication that provides an outlet for the written and artistic expression of our student body is an important facet of what makes Cranston East the best school in the state!
