Mrs. Sanchez's updates

2013-2014 School Year

Welcome back to Indian Creek Elementary!

We have had a lot of updates this year that we are very excited about. We are welcoming new faces to every grade level as well as our wonderful new principal, Mrs. Amy Teddy. As with all changes and upgrades, there are hurdles to overcome. As we work through our new arrival and dismissal procedures, please have patience and know that the safety of every child is at the forefront of our mind.

Survey

With all the changes this year, I want to get input from the community so I can better serve the needs of our campus.

Please take the time to complete the Counseling Survey. For the first question "what grade level you teach," please select the grade level of your child.

I want to be able to address your needs as well as your child's, and this is one tool I will use to help in this process.

Thank you for your feedback!

What I Do

Individual Counseling

-As needed based on Teacher or Parent referral. Individual counseling is once a week during a time that does not interfere with instruction and usually lasts no more than six weeks. A referral form is located on my website on indiancreek.lisd.net.

Group Counseling

-Covers a variety of topics that are based on children's needs. Students from the same grade gather to eat lunch in my room during their lunch time and work on activities and topics they all share.

Classroom Guidance

-30 minute lessons every other week that cover a variety of topics such as communication skills to bullying. Lewisville ISD uses the Second Step and Steps to Respect program that are nationally recognized, research based anti-bullying and social-emotional programs.

About me

My name is Shea Sanchez and I am the school counselor for Indian Creek Elementary. This is my second year as a counselor and cannot wait to see all of the wonderful faces for the coming school year. Prior to coming to Indian Creek I taught for 8 years, with a focus on Math and Science.

I am fortunate enough to have a very supportive family behind me. My husband, Matthew, works at the University of Texas at Dallas in admissions and my two beautiful daughters, Bella who is 7 and Sheridan who is 2, are the light of my life.

We will have some exciting new things happening in addition to the amazing things that we started last year.

I am looking forward to working with you so we can make this a fantastic year for everyone!
