M6 Technology Changes America
Lesson 5
Technology Changes the World
In the 1980s, the world saw a significant shift in the technology of computers. This era marked the rise of the personal computer, making computing power more accessible to everyday people. Companies like Apple and IBM introduced groundbreaking machines that revolutionized how we live and work. The computers of the 1980s were bulky compared to today's sleek designs, and their processing capabilities were much more limited. Despite their limitations, these computers paved the way for the digital age we now live in, setting the foundation for the technological advancements we continue to experience today.
One of those advancements was the Internet. With the internet, communication has become instantaneous, allowing people to connect across great distances faster than ever before. Information is now readily accessible at our fingertips, revolutionizing how we learn and gather knowledge. Additionally, e-commerce has boomed, changing the way we shop and do business. Social media platforms have become powerful tools for sharing ideas, mobilizing social movements, and shaping public opinion. As the internet continues to evolve, its impact on American society, culture, and economy continues to grow, influencing how we live, work, and interact with the world around us.
