A Small Step That Makes A Big Differerence
What is a learning target?
A learning target is what the teacher wants the students to learn from the lesson being taught. Leaning targets are derived from a specific standard. They are clear and attainable for students and can even be created by the students and written in student friendly terms.
Why are learning targets important?
- Give students a specific focus.
- Boost students' success.
- Invigorate the teaching/learning process.
- Create a classroom culture where students take more responsibility for their own learning.
- Assist with students' competency in self-assessing themselves.
