In Case You Missed It...
Art: Cubism Project
In Ms. Cohen's art class, students were all given the same set of instructions, for example, “draw a straight line that touches both the right and left side of your paper”. The point of this project was to show that we all interpret things differently; and that we are all unique.
Civics Minded Students
In accordance with the state’s new push towards the implementation of civics lessons into the 5th Grade Curriculum, we are currently working on becoming more active in the world community.
After traveling to Belize this past summer, it was a reality check for both teachers and kids, who witnessed the poverty people endure, while we live in a country that has an abundance of riches. Therefore, those of us who were part of this past summer’s adventure vowed to do whatever we could to help these people who went above and beyond to make our visit there, the trip of a lifetime.
We noticed that the school that we visited was severely lacking in supplies of all kinds, especially the necessities that we often take for granted. So, this September, we are getting our students involved in the packaging of supplies and correspondence with the students of Belize. This will include the gathering, organizing and shipping of library books, school supplies and personalized letters from our own students to the children of Belize.
As we say goodbye to September....
Voting is now open for September's Staff Member of the Month. Please, take a moment, follow the link provided, and nominate an ABIS staff member who you believe really helps support the ABIS Community and makes you feel really special.
