Bus Evacuation
All CFB students participated in our annual Bus Evacuation procedures today. We had the Fire Department and bus drivers here helping out with this important event. The drivers spoke to students explaining how to open the door and safely exit the bus. Our students did a great job listening to instruction and following directions.
Lost & Found at CFB
Thank you to our Morning Extended Day students and Mr. Collazo for creating this New CFB Lost and Found Form. Please take a moment to review the form and see if your student has lost an item at CFB. If you recognize something belonging to your student, please complete the form so we can get it back to you.
Also, as a reminder, please remember to Label Your Students Belongings. When something has a label on it, we can return it much quicker.
SMS Text Message
The Millis Public Schools will use SMS Text Messages for families if we have urgent information to share. Yesterday when our phones were down, we sent a text message and an email to families with instructions on how to contact us.
If your family did not receive text messages from the Millis Public Schools, it means you have NOT ‘opted in for text messages.’ If you would like to ‘opt in’ to our SMS messages, text "Yes" or "Y" to 67587.
Technology Presentation for Parents & Guardians
On October 23rd, Millis Public Schools is delighted to invite all parents, guardians, and caregivers to a presentation covering topics such as online safety, social media usage, physical well-being, and strategies for navigating the digital world effectively. The presentation will also include detailed information about Qustodio, our comprehensive parental control and digital well-being solution. This resource is available to you at no cost and equips you with the necessary tools to ensure a safe and balanced screen time experience for children on all their devices.

Universal Screening
We have completed our student universal screening process. You may be contacted by your student's teacher if reading, math, or social/emotional support is identified as a need. Early Literacy Screening Information will be going home with all students in grades 1 through 3 early next week.
15th Annual Production of the Nutcracker
Rehearsals for the 15th Annual Production of the Nutcracker are in full swing. Thank you to everyone who has signed their student up to participate and has been getting them to rehearsal. We still have openings for Poodles and Reindeer. This family-friendly production runs the first weekend of December and includes students from age 3 3/4 all the way through grade 12. Joining as a poodle or reindeer is a great way to get involved in an activity that can run the entire length of your student's time in Millis. There is no dance experience required and no cost to participate. Reindeer (ages 3 3/4- 6) rehearse only once, and poodles (ages 4 - 7) rehearse on Tuesdays (not including Halloween) from 4:15 - 4:45.

Please complete this form in a timely manner. Once you fill out this form, you will receive a confirmation of completion. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Liberty at cliberty@millisschools.org.
CORI Forms
If you are volunteering or visiting in a classroom or elsewhere in CFB, you will need to complete a CORI Form before coming to the school. Please visit the Superintendent’s office located at the high school next to the gym to complete a CORI form.
Morning Arrival - Drop-off Update
We are sure you have noticed the Orange Stations in our drop-off lane next to the school. These were placed to increase student safety. Cars should not be passing one another in the morning at drop-off times. This is very unsafe for students and families.
Vehicles may enter the drop-off loop to begin the lineup at 8:10 am. Students should remain in their vehicles until staff are present to greet them at 8:20 am.
MBTA Community Zoning
You may have already heard that Millis has been working on adopting the state’s 3A MBTA Rezoning legislation. The law requires every municipality to create new zoning for at least 750 new units of multi family housing.
For nine months, the Town’s 3A MBTA Advisory Committee has worked to create zoning districts that will enhance the Town’s economic development and still preserve the spirit of Millis’ traditional housing design.
The Committee has created 3 possible zoning scenarios for you to evaluate in the SURVEY below. The results of this Town-wide survey will help shape the final zoning proposal that will go to the Spring Town Meeting in 2024. So, please take the survey and help shape Millis’ future.

Arrival / Morning Drop-off
We have noticed a number of cars attempting to pass during morning arrival. Once you are in line for drop-off, passing is not allowed. This is for the safety of our students and staff. You will notice orange cones in the loop beginning tomorrow to aid in maintaining a single line during our arrival time. Thank you for your attention to the safety matter.
Covid is making a comeback. Just a reminder of protocols in place per the CDC/DESE:
Students who test positive must isolate for at least 5 days. If they are asymptomatic or symptoms are resolving, and they have been fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medicine for 24 hours, they may return to school after Day 5. A high-quality mask should worn through Day 10:
If the individual is able to mask, they must do so through Day 10.
If the individual has a negative test on Day 5 or later, they do not need to mask.
If the individual is unable to mask, they may return to school with a negative test on Day 5 or later.

Drop-off Loops
During the live drop-off from 8:20 am to 8:30 am, passing is not allowed in the parking lot loop and the loop next to the school to ensure the safety of the students unloading. Please be patient and wait for the line to move forward. We appreciate your help in maintaining the safety of our students and staff.
Dismissal
Please remember if your child is a Walker, they must be met Off School Property. There are a number of caregivers meeting their walkers at the front of the school. That location is not off of school property. If you are meeting your children on school property, they would need to be dismissed as parent/caregiver pick-up from the cafeteria.

With the heat we have had this week, we are asking families to send refillable, reusable water bottles to school with their students. We have water filling stations located throughout the building, and students are encouraged to refill their water.
