Principal's Message
Dear Edison Families,
Are you planning a family trip for the holidays? As you think about your arrangements, we want to stress the importance of sending your child to school every day they are feeling well enough to do so. Every year, absences spike in the weeks before and after the winter break as families squeeze in a few more vacation days -- it’s time to break that cycle.
We recognize that holidays are an important time for reconnecting with families far away. The costs of plane tickets often influence when you want to travel. But keep in mind the costs to your children’s education if they miss too much school— and the message you will be sending about the importance of attendance. Even if you’ve got a homework packet from the teacher, it doesn’t make up for the interaction and learning that happens in the classroom. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning, right up until vacation starts and the first day back.
We know that just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much missed learning time and put your child behind in school. This is as true in kindergarten as it is in high school. Put simply, too many absences at any age can affect a student’s chances for academic success, promotion to high school and eventually for graduation.
This holiday season, give your children the gift of an education and the habit of good attendance.
Speaking of giving and healthy habits -- I can’t wait for you to join me in renewing this annual tradition of having me do something completely silly and fun for kids as we attempt to break our previous attendance record at the Rudolph Dash!
We are still trailing the top school, but we can still reach our goal with your help. Be sure to register before December 5 and come out and have some fun with us, or if you prefer mom’s just sign up and send off the hubby with the kids while you sleep in and enjoy a nice, leisurely, well deserved Saturday morning to yourself ;)
Register Online: Rudolph Dash Online Registration, stop by our main office for a paper registration form or send in your $5 with your child and we'll sign you all up. :)
Thank you for your partnership and support!

Rudolph Dash & Reindeer Run:
The family-friendly Rudolph’s Dash will begin at the Start/Finish line of the 5K Reindeer Run and end in the Rudolph’s Roundup children’s area. Kids can run or walk this shorter course, or families may participate together.
Rudolph’s Dash is geared for younger kids, moms or dads with their strollers, or anyone that wants to join the race on a smaller scale!
After the race, spend time with us in our Rudolph’s Roundup area where you can visit local businesses and race sponsors or have the kids participate in exercise activities and craft booths. There will be plenty of activities for the whole family!

Students Presenting Symptoms at Home -- Please Contact Our Health Office
In an effort to maintain a healthy school environment and to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we ask that all parents screen their child for COVID-19 symptoms each morning before they send them to school, and keep them at home if they are sick using our Daily Checklist for Families.
This shared responsibility is critical to our ability to keep everyone safe, healthy and attending in person each day.
Please report your child’s illness with details of all symptoms to our health office at 909-984-5618. Our Health Office will follow up on all students that are at home with COVID-19 symptoms.
