Pool Closed Wednesday
The swim team has its first meet at home this Wednesday (6/14). Have you registered your swimmers yet at kangaroos.swimtopia.com?
The team kicks off its season with its annual swim team trials, a practice meet THIS MORNING, followed by a pancake breakfast poolside.
On Wednesday, the swim team will host the Long Branch Water Wizards in the 'Roos' first meet of the summer. The pool will not be open after school until 5 p.m. for the meet. We'll keep you posted on whether non-team members can swim elsewhere.
But you can stick around for dinner at the Kangaroo Kafe and enjoy the meet!
If you're still thinking you might have your kids join the team, you've got to hurry.
The team holds three practices a day, usually four days a week. The early afternoon sessions are at 4:30-5:15 p.m.; late afternoon sessions are at 5:15-6:30 p.m.; and the elite Nightcrawlers practice after the pool closes. Practices times and days vary according to the team's meet schedule, so go to the team website.
The Kangaroos run on parent volunteer power so know that when you commit your children to the 'Roos, you also are committing yourself to helping out. See the volunteer page of the team's website for ideas on how you can help.
Coming Up Next!
Raft Nights have begun! Bring yours tonight (Sunday, June 11) at 5 and enjoy a lazy, hazy evening at the pool.
Celebrate Father’s Day at the pool next Sunday (June 18th). The gas grill (non-kosher) will be hot from 3-7 p.m., they’ll be activities, and we’ll be selling ice cream treats (kosher and non-kosher) while they last.
Right after that, we’re planning to hold the first Ladies Night of the summer, Tuesday, June 20, from 7-10 p.m. The pool swill close to non-party goers at 8:45 p.m.
Bring a salad, appetizer, or dessert to share. Soft drinks will be provided. Bring your own wine or beer.
Cost: $5 for members, $7 for non-members. No free coupons will be accepted.
We need two ladies to volunteer as hosts. Please contact sherri.spritzer@verizon.net if you can help!
And if you're planning to attend, RSVP to sherri.spritzer@verizon.net by June 18th!
Our first Pizza Night at the Pool is Sunday, June 25, 5-7 p.m. To help with picking up the pizzas at Ben Yehuda's or with selling them poolside, use this Sign-up Genius to volunteer.

Master Your Strokes
We're once again offering adult members of the pool an opportunity to swim under the stars with the elite Nightcrawlers on the Kemp Mill Swim Team.
For a modest $30, you’ll be able to swim your laps after the pool closes, participate in the swim team’s coach-led workouts for its older ‘Roos, and get stroke advice!
Nightcrawler practices are held Mon., Tues., and Thurs. during the team’s competition season. Until the public schools go on summer break, the practices are being held 8-9 p.m. After June 18th, the practices will move to 9-10 p.m.
If you have swimmers on the Kemp Mill Kangaroos, register for Master 'Roos here by clicking the green Register Now button on the swim team’s home page at kangaroos.swimtopia.com. If you don't have a swimmer on the team, contact the team rep.
Swim Lessons Have Started
The lifeguards are offering private and semi-private swimming lessons under the supervision of our new swim lesson coordinator.
Private lessons are $30 for one child for 30 minutes; a lesson for two or three of your children together for 30 minutes is $45.
Contact KMSClessons@gmail.com to arrange your lessons!
It's Par-teh Time!
We've had a number of very successful parties already -- 80 people for the Kennedy H.S. NJROTC, some 20 or 30 for the St. Andrew's Knights of Columbus group, and 50 people yesterday hosted by the Perenceviches.
You can have one too!
The cost is $6 a person booked at least one week in advance at kmsc-membership@kempmill.org. State the number of guests your're planning for in your request.
You can reserve the picnic tables/pavilion and have use of the grill.
Send us your pool photos!
What's New at the Snack Bar
They've got burgers, pizzas, Crustables, mac 'n cheese cups, and Cup 'o Noodles, but would like to know which kosher items you would like stocked.
Please contact lmanzon4@gmail.com with you ideas!
The Snack Bar is being staffed this summer about five minutes before every adult swim and service also can be requested from the staff in the office at any time.
A Message From Our President
Good afternoon all,
I'm glad we finally have some summer weather! The water will warm up yet still be refreshing, and as the school-year commitments wind down, we'll all have more time to re-connect with each other on deck.
For some of our members, the pool is a place to splash and play; for others, it is a place for serious exercise, to gossip with friends or to read a novel, stopping every so often to swim enough laps to not be guilty of complete inertia. It's all good!
I would like to remind everyone to be considerate of other pool users. It has been brought to my attention that there have been some SuperSoaker battles that impacted non-combatants, including someone who had just changed out of a swimsuit into street clothes. I am told that SuperSoakers are not explicitly prohibited in our operating rules, but I think it best that they be left at home for backyard water battles.
Thank you for helping us all to have a good summer! Please encourage your friends/neighbors to visit us during our Open House tomorrow afternoon, starting at 1 p.m.! And tomorrow is also our second Raft Night of the season, starting at 5 p.m.
