Staff Recognition
Ms. Angie Porcayo, the student supervisor at Leman Middle School, received special recognition at the December 1st board meeting from Ms. Maggie Lay, principal:
“On Friday, October 28th, in a nearly empty hallway, a student began choking. Ms. Porcayo jumped into action and performed first aid procedures. Thanks to the quick thinking and swift actions of Ms. Porcayo, the item was dislodged and the student regained her ability to breathe. We are so grateful for Ms. Porcayo. She takes such wonderful care of our children and is our real-life superhero.”

TEACHING AND LEARNING
E-Learning during Emergency School Closings
As we approach the winter season, District 33 is preparing for possible school closures that may result in an e-learning day. This means that if there is a school closure, the D33 administration may decide to have students participate in e-Learning from home instead of canceling school and adding additional days to the end of the school year.
If an e-learning day is called, students should log into Zoom with their classroom teachers and follow the schedule provided by their school and teacher. In the next couple of weeks, teachers will be practicing logging into Zoom and accessing Seesaw and Google Classroom to ensure they are prepared if an e-Learning day is called.
More details on our District 33 e-Learning Plan, as well as each school’s e-Learning schedule, can be found using the link below:
