Lots & lots of cookies!
Our middle school student council members are spreading Christmas cheer this week (and a lot of it!) They stayed after school on Tuesday to decorate 100 dozen cookies that will be delivered to the area soup kitchens, men's and women's shelters and nursing homes. We're proud of these students for giving their personal time to help share with others during the holidays. Elida Spirit is Generosity! Thanks to Mr. Bryan for his work with the student council activities.
Students present a Jolly, Musical Christmas Program
The 2nd grade music classes of Mrs. Novicki and the 4th grade Girl's Ensemble put on a great program Tuesday night to a full auditorium of enthusiastic families.
There were terrific elf costumes and songs in the Fa La La Land story and even Santa & Mrs. Claus made an appearance.

DARE Skate Party
DARE will be hosting a skating party at Edgewood Skate Arena this Monday, Dec. 17th from 6:00-8:30 pm to benefit the Allen County D.A.R.E program. Admission is only $3.00 and skate rentals for $1.50. Bring a non-perishable food item and receive a FREE DRINK. There will be prizes including a pair of girls and boys roller skates plus much more.
The Fieldhouse Facelift
Over the last few months, you may have noticed some work being done on the Fieldhouse. The exterior was in need of some repair and fresh paint. With help from the Athletic Boosters and their donation of $7,500, we will be installing a new lighted sign.
We are grateful to the Boosters and everyone else for their support of the Elida athletic program to help make these improvements to the Fieldhouse.

Elida Senior Wrestler Hits 100
Congratulations to Senior Bailey Gibson who recently competed at Coldwater High School invitational with Elida's wrestling team and completed his 100th win! Here he is pictured with Coach Tom Mault. Bailey is the son of Tom & Angie Gibson. Way to go, Bailey! #elidapride
Kool-Aid makes Science Fun
Students in Mrs. Garlock's 5th grade science classes enjoyed a unique lesson on Tuesday.
The students used Kool-aid to enhance some hands- on learning of the scientific method.
Kim Kincaid with SESA visited Mrs. Garlock's 5th grade science classes to lead the lesson and experiments.
SESA stands for Science Enhancement for Science Advancement.
This program is a collaboration between the Allen County Educational Service Center/Allen County Schools and corporate partners, Ashland, Fort Amanda Specialties, Husky, INEOS and Potash Corp.
SESA brings hands-on, grade appropriate, science lesson plans to the classroom.
Thanks to Ms. Kincaid for bringing this program to our Elida Middle School.
We'll have another SESA program, "Survivor Tech Challenge" in April.
Drug Abuse Presentation
Pharmacists with Mercy Health came to the high school on Monday to give important presentations on drug abuse to our students in Mrs. Woolbright and Mr. Thompson's health classes. This is another way that Elida Schools works to keep our students informed, safe and healthy. Watch this story from Your Hometown Stations:
VIDEO. High School Jazz Band to perform Holiday Concert in the Lima Mall
Let our Elida High School musicians help get you in the holiday spirit this Monday evening when
they will be performing at The Lima Mall Center Court at 7:00pm.
Come hear some of your traditional Christmas favorites. (and get some shopping done, too!) High School Band Director John Stetler always has fun arrangements, so come to the Lima Mall and hear jazzy, festive music by our students.
