Absences Add Up
Your child’s daily, on-time attendance is critical to their success in school. And while some challenges to your child’s school attendance are unavoidable, it’s important to understand the impact of each absence. The good news? Attending school every day increases a child’s chances of success in school and in life.

Congratulations Ms. Smith
In August, Ms. Smith submitted 2 projects to DonorsChoose.org, which is a website where teachers can request materials and supplies for their classrooms. People from all over the country donate to projects that teachers have posted, and when the projects are fully funded, the teacher receives the materials. Her projects were requesting some flexible seating options for her classroom (wiggle stools and ball chairs), sensory materials, and a few playground balls for outside. She was lucky enough to have both of her projects fully funded through the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation, and the items will be arriving within the next few weeks. Ms. Smith is incredibly grateful to Herb Kohl for his generosity, and is really excited to show her students the materials that they will be adding to their classroom!

Healthy Snacks
Hadfield has been awarded a state grant to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. The program provides fresh fruit and vegetable snacks to elementary students. The goal of the program is to increase the variety and amount of fruits and vegetables students eat at school. A long term goal of the program is to help students develop lifelong healthy eating habits. All Hadfield students will receive the healthy snacks two times a week throughout the school year.
Before School Drop Off and After School Pick Up
Before School
Students should go to the playground before school with supervision starting at 8:15am. The bell rings at 8:35am and students will line up with their teachers to enter the building. Students will be allowed to enter the front doors for breakfast only until 8:30am. After that all students will be directed to the playground. Linden Street is a two way street before school and there is a lot of traffic so please don't allow your child to cross the street in front of traffic. After School
Linden Street becomes a ONE WAY street from Bell Street to Oakland Avenue beginning at 3:00pm. You may park on the south side of Linden Street which is the side closest to school. There is NO PARKING on the north side of Linden. There is also NO PARKING on Oakland Avenue as this is where the busses park.
