District News:
Darius Taylor sets two Walled Lake Western records
Walled Lake Western's Darius Taylor etched his name in the school record books with an incredible performance in the Warriors season opening 47-26 win over defending Lakes Valley Conference champion, South Lyon. The University of Minnesota bound senior rushed for 345 yards and 6 touchdowns, which set new single game program records. Taylor and the Warriors will now prepare for their home opener on Thursday night, where they meet rival Walled Lake Northern in the annual Battle of the Wall. Western had won 9 of its last 10 games against Northern. The Knights lone victory during that stretch came in 2020.
Katrina Impellizzeri shines on the ice at National Showcase
Walled Lake Northern's Katrina Impellizzeri took home the hardware after an incredible showing at US Figure Skating's National Showcase. Impellizzeri was crowned the Production Team National Champion, as well as took home medals in National Duet/Trio (silver), Novice Choreographic Artistry (silver) and Novice Emotional (silver).
9th Annual Salute to Service Game
Since 2014, the Walled Lake Central and Walled Lake Northern Football teams have been honoring United States Military personnel, Veterans, and First Responders during their game each year. This year, the game will be on Friday night, October 14th at WL Central.
Sponsor your First Responder, Veteran, or Military Personnel in the game for a $100 donation. They can be current or retired, a family member, or a friend. Players for both teams will be wearing a special jersey with the sponsored last name on the back – and playing in their honor. You and the honoree will receive the jersey right after the game – and they are really cool looking!
There will be a brief ceremony at the end of the game where the jersey will be presented to the sponsor. Family and friends are welcome – so, please attend the game. It is a wonderful experience. A roster mentioning each honoree will be included in the program. All proceeds will go to Military Families United of Michigan (an IRS Charity) to benefit Michigan Military Families.
Click here to complete the form or go to wlcfootball.com/forms . Deadline for Sponsoring a Jersey is September 23rd.
