Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade Needs Assessment

As educators, we understand student mental health plays a key role in their ability to succeed in school. Fort Bend ISD is committed to working with you, not only in the academic education of your child, but also to ensure students reach their full potential socially and emotionally.

Each year, we provide students an opportunity to share their thoughts, feelings and social/emotional needs using a Needs Assessment. It is our priority to ensure students have timely, responsive, and effective social and emotional support continuously throughout the school year. The Needs Assessment allows us to recognize and respond to students’ social/emotional needs as well as promote the wellness and development for all students.

The Needs Assessment addresses the following areas:

· Social/Emotional supports

· Sense of belonging

· Safety

· Post-secondary readiness

The Needs Assessment may pinpoint a concern, offering us the ability to secure additional assistance for students. This means that the assessment results may be shared with targeted campus and district staff if the assessment results reveal a potential concern. All assessment results will be kept confidential, stored separately from academic records.

Holley Elementary will make the Needs Assessment available to students using Microsoft Form link from October 18th to October 29th. Prior to its release, students will receive information about the Needs Assessment from their school counseling staff.

If you desire to opt-out of your child completing the Needs Assessment, please use this link: Opt-Out Form

Thank you for your continued partnership as we address the needs of all students.

Sincerely,

Tonya Cole, MHE- School Guidance Counselor

Brighter Bites

Brighter Bites is an organization that provides fresh fruits and vegetable for FREE to our community. We will begin this program starting September 16. Each family will get a 20-25 pound box of fresh produce. You must sign up for this program through the attached registration form. All families are welcome to join but you must be registered to participate. We will need lots of volunteers to help us with boxing the produce from 8:00-10:00 on the day of delivery. We will also need help with the distribution from 3:30-4:30. If you are able to help us out we would really appreciate it.

Leader in Me- Begin with the End in Mind

We have started talking about beginning with the end in mind with your child. Characteristics of this trait are to choose your battles, do not contend over matters that have no relevance to what is important. Know what your goal is before you get started and work towards that goal. We would like to have the students make posters of ways that they can begin with the end in mind at home. Please see attached flyer.

Habit #2 Posters

Please bring in any posters that you and your child have made for Habit #2, Begin with the End in Mind.

COVID Decisions

As we return to face to face instruction, we want to make sure that we are following all safety protocols to ensure that our students stay healthy. Although masks are not mandated, we highly encourage students and staff to continue wearing masks this year. Attached is a decision making tree that we will follow if we have a suspected COVID case on campus. Although we will not be using the wellness screener this year, please make sure you are self assessing your student before school each morning. If they are not feeling well, please do not send them to school.

Volunteer Background Check

Please note that all parents must have a background check conducted and approved before attending field trips, volunteering at the school, etc. We encourage every parent to have their background check completed at the beginning of the year so that they are ready to attend event or volunteer as they arise. The link to the FBISD website is provided below. Each parent must fill out a separate background check.

Extra Clothes

It is always a good idea to have extra clothing in your child's backpack if they are in the younger grades. Sometimes they have accidents and are more comfortable in their own clothes rather than receiving clothes from the nurse's office.

Please keep a copy of the school calendar handy this school year! This will keep you informed of the school holidays and closures scheduled during the year.
