Religious Life of the School
On January 6th, Feast of the Epiphany Fr Peter celebrated Mass for our school in Pius X. Fr Peter complimented the boys and girls on their reverence and participation at this Mass.
The Year 3s came together on Monday evening as they begin their preparation for their First Holy Communion. They will receive the sacrament of Reconciliation on Monday 29th January and will attend their First Holy Communion Preparation Mass on Sunday, February 25th.
Thank you to Mr Lynch who is leading this programme at St Charles and to Miss Harris and of course their parents. Please pray for our Year 3 children as they continue their sacramental journey.

Gospel: Jesus heals a sick man (Mark 1:21-28)
Using the Wednesday Word link below, read this Sunday’s Gospel and reflect on the questions below with your family. You will have an opportunity to discuss them again next week in School.
https://www.paperturn-view.com/uk/wednesday-word/messenger?pid=MTA101634&v=5.5
-What did Jesus wait until the Sabbath before he went to the synagogue?
-Why were the people so impressed with the way Jesus was teaching?
-Why do you think Jesus healed the man with the sick man?
-How do you think the people who were not there responded when they heard what had happened?
Choosing St Charles
Thank you to all our parents who do so much to publicise St Charles in our local community.
We are currently seeking applications for our Nursery for September 2024.
The high quality of our indoor and outdoor provision has been recognised by external advisers and as a result, practitioners from other schools have visited St Charles.
In addition, we place a high emphasis on improving our pupils' language skills, and staff are continually refining their practice so that our curriculum is of a very high standard.
E Safety Day
This year's Internet Safety Day takes place on Tuesday 6th February. It is an event, organised by the UK Safer Internet Centre, which aims to promote safe, responsible and positive use of internet technology.
The theme for this year is:
‘Inspiring Change’
The platforms young people use are spaces for connection, community, and collaboration, which is why Internet Safety Day challenges them to foster supportive relationships and respectful communities, whilst equipping them with the skills they need to keep themselves and others safe in these spaces’.
During the week this day takes place, class teachers will be asked to deliver age-appropriate lessons to their classes based on this theme.
Safer Internet Day can be a springboard for conversations that shape how we talk about and respond to online issue, not just for one day but throughout the whole year.
Safer Internet day is the UK’s biggest celebration of online safety.
Pantomime
He's behind you! What a way to start the new year! We all enjoyed a wonderful pantomime from Chaplins Pantos on Tuesday morning. There were laughs, songs and lots of audience participation.
Martin Luther King Day
On Monday, we celebrated Martin Luther King Day and members of the student council delivered presentations to classes around the school. Pupils were given the opportunity to reflect on his life and consider the ways his work contributed to a more equal world. They then took the time to think about the dreams they have for our world and recorded some of these in their class PSHE Floorbooks. Illustration: Adry, year 6..
Science Week Competition Winners
We start the year congratulating all the winners of the Science Week competition. Everyone's posters were so amazing it was very difficult to choose winners! Thank you Mr Fowle for organising such a great event!
