Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 16th June 2017
Tigers' roaring success
We were a little more competitive in the afternoon but all the children enjoyed being able to participate in every event, cheered on by a great crowd of friends and family members.
Our beautiful school grounds were the perfect setting and the weather was amazing too. Thank you to the friends for providing ice lollies after school.
You can watch our video below to get a feel for the day.
welcome back jack
from garden to plate
It's brilliant that Miss Wood the school cook has been along to visit the Year 3 gardeners as we are now in the fantastic position of being able to supply some of our own fruit for school meals! We think it is a great practical lesson for the children to produce their own food. On Tuesday they picked strawberries and raspberries from the school garden (thanks again to Mrs Williams for her invaluable support). Don't they look great on top of the home baked butterfly buns we had on Thursday? We're guessing they tasted great too!
Welcoming St Peter's Primary School
Earlier this year our Year 5 children had the opportunity to visit our partner school, Saint Peter's Primary, which is located in central Leeds. We were delighted to welcome them back on Wednesday, when the same class acted as hosts and were pleased to renew old friendships which had started off with letter writing back in the winter. For the visit, we were blessed with sunny weather and all the children enjoyed a football tournament and the Daily Mile together outside, as well as lessons in school.
Let me think ..
We are excited to have started appointing staff for our new venture. From September, there will be before and after school childcare run by us, for our parents and children, in our school. Hooray! But we need a good name! Thank you for the suggestions received so far, but more would be welcomed. We would also love you to record your interest in the childcare which starts in September (although we are also in the planning stages for a week's holiday club in July). Mrs Bingham has a list at her desk so pop in or give her a ring.
they smashed it at the smash up!
The Children from Cathedral Primary School recently took part in the 6th Year annual Showcase of the Summer Smash Up on the 3rd and 4th June.
This really was a spectacular showcase enjoyed by lots of families from Ripon and Harrogate. The children had a wonderful time showcasing performances they had worked really hard on in class over the past year. For lots of the younger children this was their first time performing on a huge stage in front of a very large audience. They were all fantastic and not one of them were daunted by the audience or the stage.
Sam said 'The talent and standard of the Summer Smash Up showcase is improving greatly year on year. I am so proud of the work that was showcased and hugely proud all of the children who took part and dancing and performing their hearts out at such a special event.'
Schools Out provides quality performing arts training and helps towards boosting children's confidence along with having lots of fun. For more information regarding the workshops and class availability please contact Sam at schoolsout.perform@gmail.com classes run at Cathedral Primary School on a Wednesday afternoon.
Let's have a good clear out!
