750 Water Bottles!
Summer + Family = Connections
Water Passed Out to EVERYONE
HOT HOT HOT!
I wanted to let you know that the air conditioning at Nancy Young is currently not functioning properly. Maintenance crews have been working on the issue and in collaboration with HVAC contractors. We anticipate it being back up and running by tomorrow. While we wait for repairs to be completed, we have offered a water bottles to every staff member and child in the school. Additionally, throughout the day we gave students plenty of water breaks and opportunities to refill their water bottles, and we have moved some classrooms, as necessary, to cooler parts of the building. In the event that it is not repaired by tomorrow, please have your students dress in lightweight clothing to help keep them cool and put ice in their water bottles. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
Sincerely,
Erin Rodriguez

Summer Family Connections
We are excited to be sending home each of our students with a bright blue bag filled with some engaging literacy and math materials to support them over the summer. These materials are for your family to keep. Indian Prairie utilized Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds (ESSER) to provide these resources and create some plans to stay connected with families over the summer. A letter from Dr. Talley is included in your child's bag. His letter highlights additional information on some virtual connection opportunities we are also providing for students this summer. We hope your family enjoys and benefits from these materials.
Happy Learning!

One Book One School Book Exchange
In celebration of all of the positive things we can do for our world, we will be hosting a used book exchange at NYE. Families can donate as many K-5 appropriate books in gently used condition as they would like. Each student will be able to “exchange” one book for each book donated, up to 5 books. Additional book donations to our event are appreciated. Students will also have the ability to earn a book exchange ticket for completing our Kindness Bingo activity. We are looking forward to all NYE students having books to read this summer.
We will begin accepting book donations on May 16th. The book exchange will be held on May 26th and May 27th. Thank you for your support of all of our efforts.

One Book One School Program
Welcome to Nancy Young Elementary's Annual One Book One School Program! This week in class, your student will listen to the story Just Help! by Sonia Sotomayor. Please read the publishers’ description below.
Over the course of 3 weeks, all NYE students will have the chance to read additional books with their class that offer ideas on how to change the world, as well as be inspired by real life helpers and innovators, past and present. Each grade will have a special assembly with a speaker promoting ways all of us can make a difference. Additional activities will be occurring during school to promote kindness throughout NYE. Our program will conclude with a gently used Book Exchange. Thank you for your ongoing support of our One Book One School Program.
Be on the lookout for the beautiful chalk drawings and messages from the primary classes that are popping up around the school.
Mrs. Ranucci & Young PTA
From the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Just Ask! comes a fun and meaningful story about making the world--and your community--better, one action at a time, that asks the question: Who will you help today?
Every night when Sonia goes to bed, Mami asks her the same question: How did you help today? And since Sonia wants to help her community, just like her Mami does, she always makes sure she has a good answer to Mami's question.
With art by award-winning illustrator Angela Dominguez, this book shows how we can all help make the world a better place each and every day.
