Wagner Update
News and Notes from Wagner Elementary - February 23rd, 2015
D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read)
D.E.A.R. stands for Drop Everything and Read. As part of "I love to read" month, Wagner students have spontaneous D.E.A.R. times throughout the week. As a result, they have to carry their books with them everywhere and when they hear the dogs barking on the intercom it's time to pull out their books and read for 20 minutes (teachers too!).
Pennies for Patients - We made it!!! $2,054 raised!
Books needed - Wagner Book Swap next week!
As part of our Read Across America activities next week, Wagner will be hosting a book swap for our students. A book swap is where our students will be able to stop by and pick up a gently used book to read. If you have some books that have been lying around your house, this is a great opportunity to share them and put them to good use! Please note, all books will be considered donations and will be given away - no books will be returned. The book donations will be collected in our Media Center throughout this week (February 23rd - 27th).
Dragon Lunch Bunch Spotlight - Jenny Wudtke's Group
Best book that they've read so far was The Girls Against the Boys.
When asked about DLB and their book, the students said...
- They are already on their third book.
- Their leader is very active and dramatic.
- Their leader makes going to the club cool!
Read across the trail - Update
On our way to Read Across the Iditarod Trail, we have 339 books left to reach our goal! This is the last week so we need everyone to read, read, read! If we make the goal, we’ll have an activity day on Friday, March 6th!
