WALK-A-THON - SEPTEMBER 18 - 1:00-2:30pm

Dear Cherry Valley Families,

It's one of our favorite times of the year -- the weather is cooling off a bit, our students are settled in, and exciting events are on the horizon -- it's WALKATHON SEASON! The 2019 Walkathon is coming on Wednesday, September 18 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm!

We are in need of volunteers to help us make this event amazing! You can sign up for a shift online.

Each year, students walk, run, and sprint their way toward a better educational experience at the Walkathon, helping us to raise crucial funds for the Mary Collins Education Foundation (MCEF). The funds we raise in the Walkathon go to support our charter and also to provide core curriculum that our students need to learn and thrive. This year, the MCEF is paying for programs like Environmental Education in the garden, Social/Emotional Student Support, Advanced Math, Physical Education, Middle School Electives, and Music. Our goal is to raise $50,000, and with your help, we can do it!

Your child should have received a Walkathon Pledge Form and information on exciting prize incentives. We are thrilled to be partnering with our PTA in order to collect online donations through PledgeStar! Students can collect flat donations or pledges-per-lap online or accept cash and checks. Cash and Check Pledges are due back to school on October 18. If your child has ONLY online pledges, please return the pledge form and write "online only" on the form.

Spread the word far and wide -- no pledge is too small! Here are some ideas for drumming up donations:

* Make a video of your child talking about what our programs mean to him or her - why do they love garden? What's their favorite game to play in PE? What is the best song you've learned in music? Share the video with friends and family!

* Incentivize donors to give more by offering to "dedicate" a lap to them: you could do a backwards lap! A skipping lap! A lap singing the donor's favorite song!

* Know any families with Cherry Valley alumni? Ask them to support their alma mater!

We can't wait to see you at the track!

Clo-Cow Half Marthon, 10K & 5K Races benefiting PEF - September 15

The 9th running of the Clo-Cow Half Marathon, 10K & 5K is set for September 15, 2019 in Historic Downtown Petaluma. The beautiful half marathon course will take you through rural Sonoma County farm country, over rolling hills where you’ll be cheered on by sheep, horses, and of course our beloved Moo-Cows! The trip out there is a challenging one, but the inclines just make the views even more rewarding.

Race participants are encouraged to make a donation to the mission of PEF on the race registration page.

PEF supporters will be out on the course cheering on these amazing athletes so don’t miss all the fun (or cowbells!) as downtown Petaluma becomes race central for the day!
