NO SCHOOL - Friday, October 8th - NEOEA Day
A message from the Principal-Mrs. Bookman
To our Suffield Family,
First, if you're traveling through the center of Suffield today, stop by the Town Hall and have some lunch/dinner. It is being provided for FREE to Suffield Township families by a local business! When they run out, they'll close up, so stop on your way home!
Thank you all for helping to resolve the traffic problems at drop-off! Unfortunately, the number of cars just keeps increasing due to the shortage of bus drivers. We are currently working on getting some new drivers trained.
When we end up with a shortage, you may get a text and/or phone call from the transportation department. When they tell you that the bus will be late, this is what they mean:
- A driver from another route will finish his/her route, drop students off at the school, then go back out around 9:00 to pick up the route that is missing a driver. If you can't wait for the bus, or you don't want to wait, you can come to the school to drop your child off. If you DO need a ride, you need to give the bus garage a call so they know to stop at your house. the number is 330-673-0618.
- At the end of the day, the same thing will happen. Another driver must first do his/her route, then return to the school to get the students who ride the bus that was missing the driver. The past couple of weeks, this has been around 4:20 when the bus pulls out of the drive to start delivering the students to home. If you don't want your child to have to wait almost an hour to get on the bus, you can pick your child up from school. If you choose to do this, you MUST call the school at 330-552-5252 before 3:00 to let us know. We will then make sure your child is in the car-rider area. Come to the school at 3:30 to pick up your child. We will have your child ready for you at the right side of the building.
We realize that this is not convenient or ideal, but for right now that is all we can do. If you, or someone you know, would like to be a bus driver, we do provide FREE training!
I hope you enjoy a beautiful day tomorrow!! Be sure to send students with a coat next week!

Flu Shot Clinic
In partnership with Akron Children’s Hospital School Health Services, it is our pleasure to offer on-site flu vaccinations at your student’s school on Monday, October 25th. Flu clinics will be offered at each school location during school hours. Health Heroes flu vaccination clinics are completely voluntary and are offered to ALL consented students, regardless of their insurance coverage.
Why get a flu vaccine?
The best way to minimize or avoid the spread of the flu is to get an annual flu vaccination. Each year the vaccine protects against new strains, therefore, the vaccine should be administered annually.
Who is Health Heroes, Inc.?
At Health Heroes, we specialize in on-site vaccination clinics. Vaccines are provided as a NO-OUT-OF-POCKET expense to students. We bill both Medicaid and private insurance; however, we never bill students or parents for any out-of-pocket expenses or deductibles. Qualifying uninsured students can be given the vaccine, free of charge. Although student participation is voluntary, these vaccinations are recommended to help keep schools healthy and cut down on high absenteeism.
What type of vaccines will be given?
IIV-4 injections will be available to all consented children who do not have any contra-indicators. All vaccines given are preservative-free, mercury-free, Thimerosal-free, and administered by state-licensed nurses.
What do you need to do to participate?
If you wish for your child to participate, please COMPLETELY fill out the consent form, Including ALL insurance information (you must have the member ID numbers filled in), and sign the form. If there is no insurance, please mark the appropriate box on the form. These forms need to be returned to your child’s school prior to the clinic date to secure a dose for your child.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the Health Heroes at 330-573-6864 or 1-205-609-0268/OH@healthherousa.com. For further information, you can also visit our website at www.healthherousa.com. We hope to see your child in the clinic!

Birthday Treats
At this time, we will allow Birthday Treats to be brought to school. We are required to inform you of the Healthy Eating Guidelines (see below) and suggest that you use this when selecting a treat. Whatever you choose, please note that all treats brought to school for the purpose of sharing with others, need to be prepackaged so we are able to know and see the ingredients list. There are many students who have a variety of food allergies and having the ingredients listed helps the school nurse determine if a student with allergies can eat a particular treat.
Ohio's Parent Mentor Program
We would like to introduce you to Christina Hemberger, the Parent Mentor for Field and Southeast Local Schools. She is available to our families as a resource and advocate for those students with disabilities. Below is the Parent Mentor brochure. Feel free to reach out to her if you have any questions are interested in learning more about her services. Cell (330)-298-8130

Do you know what day it is?
We continue to use a block schedule where specials will rotate every four days. This means there is no specific day for music, art, Computer Lab, or P.E. Each class will have an assigned time and will participate in these specials in a rotating sequence. One huge benefit will be that no special will regularly be missed because of school holidays. Anxiety in Children
Anxiety, there are many different things the parents and guardians can do to help their child when they are feeling anxious. Your student is not alone, childhood anxiety has been becoming more common with over 4.4 million children from ages 3-17 being diagnosed with anxiety. Here are some things you can do to support your child when they are feeling anxious:
Remind your child that their feelings are valid and okay. Give them time and space to share how they feel without judgment.
Set a time each day/week to talk about their worries.
Help your child focus on what they can control.
Help your child develop ways to cope with and manage their anxiety, such as:
Deep breathing
Talking to you or another adult
