Word From The Woods
Bishop Woods School Newsletter - 5.2.21
Greetings Bishop Woods Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! This week we are excited to welcome back all of our hybrid students 4 days/week!! Wednesdays will remain full remote for everyone.
If your child is currently full remote, and you intend to send him/her back for in person learning, you must contact the school in advance.
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week!! We are so thankful to our entire Bishop Woods staff and excited to celebrate them! This year, our parents also need to be celebrated during Teacher Appreciation Week, as you have worked as our partners throughout the pandemic and we are so appreciative of all of you! If you have not yet contributed to the Teacher Appreciation Flipgrid, the deadline has been extended to Monday, May 3rd. All details are below.
Our 3rd - 5th grade students will continue working on the SBA assessment this week, moving on to the math portion. Grades 6-8 will begin this assessment next week. Please see below for some important reminders/updates for the week ahead for families in GRADES 3-5.
We have two school-wide events happening outdoors this week! On Monday, May 3rd, we will celebrate the April Walk-A-Thon Victors with a parade around our building, led by our Bishop Woods Hawk! All students will also receive a healthy snack from Elm City Market. On Thursday, May 6th, we will have Outdoor Day! Our students will spend time in stations outside engaging in a multitude of outdoor learning activities. Please be sure to dress your child appropriately, and hope that Mother Nature is on our side!
Remote learners will have the opportunity to join Outdoor Day from 3:30 - 4:30pm on Thursday. Please see the flyer below for details!
School pictures are scheduled for May 24th or May 27th. All details are below. I will be sending out an accurate tag # this week for parents that would like to pay in advance. We will also be sending out a schedule for remote students that would like to participate. Only individual student pictures will be taken this year.
Lastly, if you have not done so already, please complete the Family-School Relationship Survey. The link is provided below. We will also be sending paper copies home on Monday. All paper versions must be returned to the school so we can mail them in.

Do not stress your child out with this test! Just remind them to do their best, and that there will be questions that may be too hard for them because they may not have learned this information yet.
All students need a school device. No personal devices can be used for testing. Put in a ticket if student does not have a device. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc7A2LDwny5LqWJ2ORtjMRKGiD7qCBZnBN4IiDYsP7Nk1EKtw/viewform
All students need to KNOW their username and password; please practice. Student will have to log out for testing and back in after testing.
- Teachers will prepare asynchronous work for remote students in grades 3-5 until 10:15 on Monday, May 3rd, and Tuesday, May 4th and Friday, May 7th (in person testing will take place from 9-10:15).
