Celebrating Gifted

May 2023

Greetings, GT Families!

It's the final month of the 2022-2023 school year! We hope you will be enjoying all of the "final events" that come this time of year, including classroom celebrations, award ceremonies, performances, and, of course, graduations. Enjoy an adventurous summer while also finding time to cool off and relax. We will be back in touch with our Back-To-School newsletter in August!

All the best,

GT PAC Game Day Event

The GT Parent Advisory Committee hosted a “GT Game Day” for families of gifted students at the First Colony Library on Saturday, April 15, 2023. There was a great turnout from GT students from many Fort Bend campuses who brought their favorite board game to play. We received positive feedback from our students and parents regarding this event. We would like to thank the Social Events subcommittee for providing this wonderful activity for our GT families.

TEA Filming

The Texas Education Association (TEA), accompanied by representatives from Region 13 and Region 4, made an exciting visit to two of our FBISD schools to interview both teachers and students about their work relating to the Texas Performance Standards Project (TPSP). Our amazing teachers and students were being recognized for their hard work with the opportunity to spread their message to the rest of the state on the TPSP website. In total, four teachers from Dulles Middle School and Kempner High School were interviewed about their roles in the TPSP process in FBISD. Nine students presented, recorded, and interviewed from these campuses as well.

Fort Bend ISD was contacted for this opportunity because of the unique, robust nature of our GT Showcase. Being virtual has allowed us to celebrate nearly 700 student projects on our dedicated FBISD GT Showcase YouTube channel. The continually growing GT Showcase was recognized as one of the largest in all of Texas leading TEA to reach out for input on our process. Our staff and students were able to provide tremendous insight to our process here in Fort Bend ISD while experiencing the exciting world of filmography as stars!
