November 2016

Principal's Message

Thank you so much to our wonderful PTO for a great Harvest Festival! The entire event from start to finish was absolutely great! I'm very thankful to have such a supportive group of parents and surrounding community. Thank you for all your time, effort and dedication.

We also had a wonderful turnout of students and the special Veterans in their lives for our Veteran's Day recognition. We are so honored to have so many Veteran families at our school. We thank you for your sacrifice and dedication for our country! Have a Happy Veteran's Day 2016.

We have so much in store for our students this year with our PTO, please look out for our next event, the "Jingle Bell Fun Run" on Saturday, December 3rd at Hylton HS from 10 to 11:30 AM. We're also having a Holiday Shop at the school during the week of December 12th - 15th (more information to come).

Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, November 15th at 6:30 PM, please join us to share future events and ideas. We'd love to hear from you!

We recently had our SCA elections for President, Vice President, and Historian. All the candidates had an opportunity to record their speeches and display persuasive content. Students in grades 3-5 watched a video on each candidate on their personal laptops and submitted their votes electronically. We are so proud of the effort, citizenship, and courage each candidate displayed! Our winners were Maggie Manning for President, Victoria Wedge for Vice President, and Khalia Mosely for Historian. Congratulations to those elected and a congratulations is in order to all those that participated for their effort and sportsmanship!

We are in need of donations from parents for the Clinic. As you may be aware, at a new school we do not have mounds of extra clothes for students who may have accidents during the day. If you have any gently used, clean pants or tops that you would be willing to donate, we would greatly appreciate it. Please send them in with your child to the office, the nurse will begin to use them and help our students when the need arises. We will purchase a few undergarments from Walmart, however we won't be able to maintain this all year. We appreciate your support!

Please make sure that your child has enough funds on their lunch accounts for lunch each week. You can send in a payment with your child in a sealed envelope that is sent directly to the lunchroom each day or pay online at www.myschoolbucks.com. All children will have a full lunch regardless of their outstanding bill, however, any unpaid bills will be the school's responsibility which ultimately takes away money for books, technology and instructional materials for all. More information on lunch menus and payment options can be found at http://pwcsnutrition.com/.

Lastly, so many exciting things are happening each day at Kyle Wilson Elementary. Teachers are frequently posting all the activities, projects, STEAM lessons, and the events going on in and around our school. Please check out our Twitter feed on our website (https://wilsones.pwcs.edu/) or go on Twitter and search #WilsonSeaLions for all the great things happening. We're also using #STEAMKWES to filter STEAM activities at our school. Enjoy!

Special Attention

It has come to our attention that several parents are using the pipe stem off of Bell Tower Road to park and walk across the yard of a private home located in the the neighborhood community to drop off their kids. Please understand that it is not appropriate to drop kids off to school in this manner, please adhere to this matter and use the school grounds for any pick-up/dismissal and school events. Our PWCS Facilities department is looking into building a surrounding fence to prevent any future concerns. We greatly appreciate your cooperation.
