What's Happening This Month:
InSTEPS IS Up and Running 🏃♂️
We are happy and proud to welcome both new and returning participants to our InSTEPS family. With two cohorts joining us for the 2023-2024 school year, we are hoping to have double the fun! Special Olympics bowling practice is underway on Wednesday evenings from 4-6pm at Orchard Mesa Lanes. Come out and support our current and alumni InSTEPS for some guaranteed fun! It will warm your heart. The participants are exploring new and exciting career pathways, life-skills, and so much more. We are looking forward to working together, mentoring, with Career Center Campus staff and students to make this the best year!
Culinary Arts Is Off To A Great Start👨🍳
Culinary Arts students have been studying for and earning their Food Handler Card for Mesa County. Pumpkin Peanut Butter dog biscuits were a great way to find their way around the kitchen and give back to our community; treats were donated to our Companion Animal Program and our four-legged visitor's!
We hope to open Fresh Side Café mid September with a return of favorite plates such as cheese bacon burger and club sandwiches. As well as our delicious fresh made soups, salads, and desserts that change weekly. Call 970-256-6056 for more information.

Companion Animal Care🐕
The Companion Animal Care students are excited to start grooming for the public mid-September. They are currently learning how to groom, bathe, clip and to care unconditionally for your pet. The students will also be continuing their partnership with Roice-Hurst and will start volunteering in September.

Early Childcare Welcoming and Expectations
I am excited to begin the 2023-2024 school year at the Career Center Campus! I look forward to seeing your new faces!
Teaching your student tremendous responsibility and I will do my best to ensure that each student has a safe and motivating learning experience in this upcoming year. However, I cannot do this without the help of you, the parents. We are partners in the learning process.
I believe that the parent-teacher relationships are necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year I will communicate through newsletters, notes, telephone calls, emails, report cards and student-led conferences. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at anytime. You can call the school, send me a written note, or contact me through via email at smarsh@d51schools.org
This program (ECP) combines direct experience working with young children (3-5) years old in Colorado State licensed preschool. You will have instruction in safety, child development, and parenting careers in early childhood, nutrition, snack preparation, first aid health, and curriculum planning.
Early Childhood teachers teach to enhance the development and learning of all children by providing a balance of adult-guided and child-guided experience, teachers plan curriculum to achieve important learning goals through learning experiences that include play, small group, large group, interest centers and routines. Since we are practicing to become Early Childhood Teachers and will be working directly with the preschool class next door, please remind your student to come ready to be Prepared, Polite, Productive, Professionals. Encourage your student to dress professionally, and enter into the room with their cell phone put into our cell phone basket until the end of the module. Thanks for your support!
