Message to Families and Staff
On March 23, Governor Cooper announced that schools will remain closed through May 15. We want to assure you that during this time, WCS will continue to provide meals for children ages 1-18 at sites across the county. For a list of the food sites, please refer to our district website wilsonschoolsnc.net, social media sites or call your child’s school. We want to thank everyone who has made this process successful as the number of meals served increases each day.
Beginning March 30, instructional opportunities for students will be available. Please refer to messages from your child’s principal or information on your school website for these details. An incredible team of educators and administrators came together in a very short period of time to prepare these materials, and we appreciate all of their hard work. We have 11,000 students under our care, and we ask for your continued patience as we navigate the instruction process. We also know that many of you have questions regarding the school calendar and grading, and we are waiting on guidance from the state before those questions can be answered. We want our school families to know that we are here for you, and we will get through this together. Please continue to take care of yourself and others during this time.
Spell Support
Shout Out! to WCS Principal of the Year Marquis Spell for staying active on social media to remind his Springfield MS staff, students and parents how much he cares about them. Mr. Spell is known for his use of social media, but he has really taken it to the next level - even posting a math Problem of the Day. We are thankful for his leadership, and we love the video he created and posted with this message: As we take on this new challenge at Springfield Middle (and across the country), let's not forget the real reason why we do what we do. Relationships and family are even more important now than ever before. Let's pull together and support one another as we DOMINATE this challenge. Thank you for your strength, dedication, understanding, openness and caring.

Families with children ages 1-18 can pick up a meal that will consist of a lunch for that day and breakfast for the next morning at locations across the county. The child does not need to be present, and the meal is at no cost to the family. This service will continue Monday-Friday while schools are closed through May 15, 2020.
