Arroyo Seco Jr. High School -- April 3, 2020
Principal's Message
Hello Seco Families,
Thank you for all of your support and flexibility as we have implemented the new distance learning model. We know that this is a huge transition, especially given some of the challenges that many families are facing during this time. Under difficult circumstances, we are off to a great start.
As you know from Mr. Kuhlman's most recent letter, we will finish out this school year through distance learning and the physical school buildings remain closed. We know that this raises a number of questions related to year end activities and processes, including PE locker clean out, awards, textbook return, and yearbook distribution, among others. We frankly do not have all of the answers at this time. We are working with the district and will share information as we are able.
We have asked teachers to mark assignments that have not been turned in as "missing" in Infinite Campus. This does count as a zero until the assignment is turned in. We know that this can impact their grade until the work is submitted, but it acts as a placeholder to allow you and your child to monitor their progress and is an important piece of communication.
There will be no school the week of April 6-10 due to Spring Break. We hope that this is a time for you to rest and relax and spend with family. Distance learning will resume on April 13. Thank you for all of your support. We hope that you all stay healthy and safe. Together, we will continue to succeed. Have a great Spring Break!

Now, more than ever, practicing gratitude and optimism on, a daily basis, matters and can help improve our overall well-being. Research shows how much gratitude, optimism and hope can literally change our brain structures! Grateful people are physically healthier and sleep better (Emmons & McCollough, 2003)- who doesn’t want that! Practicing gratitude and optimism helps us stay proactive during times of stress and instills a sense of control (Dweck, 2009).
