Where does the shoe company get its name from and why?
The origin
Nike was a Greek goddess who personified victory as well as force and speediness. The shoe company Nike wanted to make sure their name stood out and gave their customers (athletes) an idea about their products based on the name they had chosen. The company therefore chose the goddess Nike to represent their products.
History about the name Nike
Although the company could have chose another name such as one of Nike's siblings who had their own attributes: Zelos (rivalry), Kratos (strength), and Bia (force). Instead the company went with Nike because she was the goddess of victory, force and speediness. This was also they way the company wanted to represent their products a well as themselves.
