Math Topic 13 Test on Measurement - Thursday, March 24th
The test covers topic 13. Pages 703 through 750 cover topic 13 in your child’s math book. We will review for the test in class. For additional practice we highly recommend that your child tries to solve the problems on pages 749 and 750. These pages will be assigned as homework for next week and will be due on Tuesday, March 22nd. However we have encouraged your child to take home their math book home for the weekend, to get a head start on studying for the test and working on their homework.
Here is a brief list of what your child is expected to know for the test:
· Solving perimeter and area problems – focus will be on rectangles and squares.
· Solving problems related to money – calculating change, identifying equations that represent the amount spent, amount charged, or amount received in change.
· Solving problems related to time – calculating elapsed time.
· Converting between customary units and metric units
· Your child will also have access to the STAAR reference sheet to use a ruler, looking up area/perimeter formulas, finding relationships between different units. We have attached a copy of this sheet in the email for your reference.
· The test will also have some problems on multiplication and division.
Test Review- Wednesday, March 23rd
We will be using devices to review for the test on Wednesday. Your child is welcome to bring a device for the review.
