EC More Math Please Book Study
Class will be offered from the comforts of your classroom!
Aside from counting, number recognition, and naming two-dimensional shapes, math is often given short shrift during the early school years. Even without organized curricula and instruction, young children develop an informal knowledge of math concepts through interactions with people and things. Participants will understand the foundations of mathematical practices through a book study learning approach with: Big Ideas of Early Mathematics (What Teachers of Young Children Need to Know) from Erikson Institute.
Focus will be on the big ideas of early mathematics:
- Focus on sorting and sets along with connections to Creative Curriculum
- Focus on numeracy with connections to Creative Curriculum
- Focus on measurement with connections to Creative Curriculum
