Room 221: 4th grade. Week of December 14th.


We are continuing our unit on multiplication and division. Below are some great videos to watch by yourself or to watch with your child. We will be working on x1 and x2 multiplication fact families this week and we will test next Monday (12/22). The goal of this is for students to become fluent with their multiplication facts.

These videos reflect exactly how we teach math in class. Do not hesitate to watch it yourself, or watch it with your students!!! Some students who struggle a bit more will watch these for re-teaching strategies in the classroom.


Our story this week, Jose! Born to Dance is a biography. The word family we are working on is vowel +r. Please make sure to study the words below for a test on Friday.

The target skill this week is author's purpose. Author's write to entertain, to inform, to persuade, or to describe. As students read they should focus on the way the author describes the characters, events, and setting.

Important Dates

12/15: Orchestra/Band/ Chorus concert at 2:00 in the MPR

12/18: 4th and 5th grade award ceremony in the MPR at 12:00.

12/22: PAJAMA DAY!! Students may wear their pajamas.

12/23: No School: Winter Break.

Special Gift

Today, in class, we worked on a special project for our parents. We were able to learn a new skill and make a wonderful piece of art. We will be sending it home by the end of the week. I sincerely hope everyone can enjoy this gift from your child for years:)
