ROCKET FAMILY WEEKLY UPDATES - WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 21-25

Weekly Note from Mrs. Clement

September 20, 2020

Dear Rocket Families,

I hope you all have enjoyed a beautiful and restful weekend! The RES staff and I continue to thank you for your patience and understanding as we implement and carry out new daily procedures and policies during this time.

This past Thursday during a press conference, Governor Cooper announced that effective October 5, 2020, districts may choose to implement Plan A for elementary schools (serving grades kindergarten-5th grade students). The Rutherford County Schools Board of Education will hold a Special Called Meeting this Monday, September 21st at 5:30 PM to consider this new option for elementary students.

Plan A does relax some of the social distancing requirements in classrooms and on school buses, however, they still exist in common areas of the schools. It should also be noted that all other requirements under Plan B - face coverings, daily symptom screenings, hand hygiene, cleaning and disinfecting, providing a remote-only option for instruction, limiting nonessential visitors, and many others - are fully preserved under Plan A.

Please know that we will communicate any decisions the board determines and any pertinent information after their meeting Monday.

A few reminders:

  • This Friday, September 25, is the end of the first six weeks grading period.
  • Hybrid Learners - Please remember to bring your fully charged iPad each day along with your charger.
  • Remote Learners - Packet Pick-Up for 1st and 2nd grade (Brown and Partridge) tomorrow, Monday, September 21, from 8:30 AM until...(please avoid times between 2-3 due to dismissal).
  • ALL Learners - During days of remote learning, attendance is based on DAILY contact with teachers or a work submission online. If you have any questions about attendance please let us know.

Thank you for being an incredible school community. As always, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Best,

Michelle Clement
