Marie received recognition for Mashburn through the county special education department for recognition for Outstanding Job Performance and Dedication. Thank you for your dedication each and every day to students, staff and parents. We appreciate you so much.
Scheduling for Next Year
It is time to begin to think about our Master Schedule for next year. The county is changing the way we schedule in IC so we will be changing things up. We would love to hear your feedback! You can complete the survey as a grade level/ department or individually. We want to hear all your thoughts, opinions and dream ideas. If you would like to share your thoughts, please complete the survey by Feb 16th.

Young Authors Competition 2017-2018
It is that time of the year for each grade level to select an overall writing representative to compete in the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition 2017-2018.
As a grade level, please examine writing samples from your students or administer an writing assignment (your choice) and select one overall grade level writing representative. To assist in choosing, please use the rubric that is linked below. I have also linked the student checklist to assist in the process. Once a grade level representative is selected, please have parents complete the entry form.
Once your grade level has a selected a candidate, grade level chairs please turn in the writing piece, rubric, signed permission slip, and to me by Monday, February 12th.

Access Testing
ACCESS testing continues this week. Martha and Dee will be testing each day beginning at 8:30, so they will not pull our BN groups or have our regular classes. Wednesday we will be at the state ESOL conference at Kennesaw. We have subs for Wednesday so please send your ESOL students at their regular times.

Battle of the Books
This year Mashburn Elementary School is going to “battle it out” and vote for their favorite Dr. Seuss’ book. Each Friday you will receive a link pairing up some favorite titles along with some titles not as well known. Share these stories with your students. I have the titles here in the media center and many of you have your own copies too. Please share with each other.

The books with the most votes will be paired up against each other in Round 2 the following week, along with two new titles. There will be 4 rounds. Reading and voting will need to be completed by March 1st!!
On March 2nd, we will be ready to announce our “Seuss Book Battle Winner” as we celebrate Read Across America.
