Shakopee EJH Media Center
for the week of January 20, 2015
Keeping you informed of upcoming events and news you can use!
There's lots of changes taking place in our school's Media Center! In an effort to keep you up-to-date on these changes and to keep you informed of all of the great special events, reading programs, contests, and more, watch for flyers similar to this twice a month, on the first and third Tuesdays.
Media Scapes
Our media scapes have been installed and are ready to use! What is a media scape you might ask? Unlike most leader-led presentation spaces where information is controlled and shared by one person, media scapes allow up to four group participants to contribute their ideas equally. Media scapes allow users to connect their device and by using a switch box, they are able to toggle between devices and see that device's image on the screen. Within the last week that students have had access to the media scapes, they have been working on collaborative projects for science class especially but there are a wide variety of instances where they would come in handy. Think you might be interested in using one? Stop in and talk to Ms. Sticha or Ms. Baas to find out how.
February Book Club
Our very own 8th grade science teacher, Ms. Goodrich, is an adventure-seeker so it's no surprise that her choice for the February Book Club is a non-stop adventure from beginning to end! Join Ms. Goodrich in reading Big Game: The Hunt is On during the month of February. We will meet before school starting at 7:15 on February 10 & 24 at the Media Center tables. If you ride a bus or can't get to school by 7:15 for another reason, please join us when you get here. The deadline for signing up is this Friday, January 23. Please consider joining us in reading this awesome book! You won't regret it!
Check out the trailer for the February Book Club here.
Green Screen
We've been having a ton of fun using the green screen room! Over the past two weeks Ms. Baumbach's classes have taped commercials for their Snack Shop and Mr. Driver's classes have taped short movies highlighting various minerals. If you have ideas about how to use the green screen room to create a video for an assignment, stop in and talk with me. We can create a script and schedule a time to tape! In the meantime, check out some of these videos:
