HBMS Warrior Parent Update
Week of August 31, 2020
Get Ready for a Virtual Open House!
This year is truly a year of firsts. We will be celebrating our very first Virtual Open House on Thursday, September 3rd, beginning at 6:00 pm. With the virtual setting, we will be Re-Imagining our Open House setting and format.
This year, you will receive a welcome video from each of your child's teachers by email, which will go over their class content, expectations, and conference time information. This is the typical information that you would expect during our traditional Open House nights. You should start receiving these soon, and will continue throughout the week. Along with important information, you will also receive a Teams link, where you can access the teachers live, on September 3 from 6:00 - 7:00 pm.
During this time, all parents will be asked to put their questions in the chat, where the teacher will then read and answer the questions live. These should be general questions, that may be of benefit to other parents. In order to allow all parents that have questions to get their questions answered, the teacher will manage the chat and answer those questions. We ask parents to only use the chat feature during this evening to ask questions.
As a parent, you are able to pick and choose, which teachers to visit and ask questions of. If you have no specific questions for a teacher, you are NOT required to visit their virtual Open House class on this night. The evening will be a come and go, Question and Answer setting, as opposed to a traditional Open House that you may be familiar with. If you have a question or concern that are specific to your child, it is recommended that you set up a personal conference with the teacher on a date other than Open House night.
Again, this is very different from what you may be familiar with. On September 3, during the hours of 6:00 - 7:00 pm, a parent will pick which teachers they would like to visit with to get a question asked. If you don't have a question of a specific teacher, you are welcome to join their class to listen to him/her answer other questions if you'd like. This format has been tried on other campuses for orientation and has been very successful. Although it may be a new re-imagined way of having an Open House, we have become accustomed to doing things in a new way. We hope this will provide you a way to get some questions answered in a more relaxed setting than trying to scurry to every class within a short time period.
Along with our teaching staff, our Administrators, Counselors, and our Librarian and Parent Educator will also be available online. We will also be in a virtual setting to answer your questions (see below for Teams links). We look forward to your participation in our new, improved and re-imagined Open House on Thursday, September 3rd from 6:00 - 7:00 pm.
