DROP OFF/PICK UP... PLEASE READ!
I regret having to bring to your attention certain recent events, but I feel the situation warrants it. Over the past several weeks, our morning drop off and afternoon pick up has gotten completely out of control. I have previously included procedures, in several editions of our newsletter, outlining the A.M. and P.M. procedures.
These procedures, as all other school procedures, are put in place to keep everyone safe. Citing specific examples of recent issues include:
- double and triple parking;
- parking across the street from the school on Lake Drive, which, according to the posted signs by the municipality, is a violation and not permitted;
- parking perpendicular to parked cars in appropriately lined parking spots;
- stopping in the drop and go lane to exit your vehicle and open the car door for your child.
Things have even spilled over into a very scary "road rage" incident I witnessed last week. Two vehicles sped, side by side, through the parking lot because one of the cars "cut off" the other. It is this extreme example and the actions stated above that can create dangerous situations.
In the picture below, I have identified the NO PARKING/STOPPING areas (RED LINES). Please be considerate of these areas and do not park or stop there. When divers do either one it creates the issues we have experienced over the past few weeks.
The current situation will only become resolved if YOU are part of the solution. I thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation. If you have any questions about the information listed above, please stop by the Brookside main office.
We are a community... the Brookside Community. We must work together to ensure that at the end of the day, there is only one thing that truly matters... the safety of all of our students and staff.
Thank you,
Mr. Conroy
