A Note From the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are fully into fall mode at Munson! Here are a few important reminders as we head into the fall and winter months.
- Please be sure to send your student to school with appropriate clothes and outerwear for the weather. We WILL go outside for recess as long as the wind chill is above 15 degrees! Also, make sure all coats, hats, gloves, boots, etc. are clearly labeled with your child's name.
- If your child is absent for any reason, make sure to call the office to let us know. We have a 24 hour attendance line that is checked multiple times a day where you can leave a voicemail letting us know why your child is absent. If you do not call, we will call you at home, work, and at any other numbers listed on Infinite Campus.
- If your child misses school due to illness or an appointment, please bring a doctor's note, or have the doctor's office fax one to us. If your child is excessively absent, absences may be counted as unexcused without appropriate documentation from a doctor's office.
Thank you,
Mathew Prezioso
Principal, Munson Elementary

Infinite Campus Annual Update
The Annual Update must be completed by ALL Chardon Local Schools households every year, for every student, even if there are no changes. This ensures that you have created your Parent Portal Account so that we have the most accurate information for your student and household, so we may contact you promptly in case of an emergency, allows you to pay for student meals and school fees online, and gives you access to important forms and documents, including report cards. The window to complete the Annual Update has been closed, but we still need your information to be updated. Please find Annual Update instructions HERE.
🍦 The Annual Update Ice Cream Race is ON!!! 🍦 The first class to have ALL Annual Updates completed will receive an ice cream party! Mr. Buemi's class is still in the lead with only ONE Annual Update left to complete! Mrs. McClintock, Mrs. Hardman, and Mrs. Sobodosh (2 left) are close behind, followed by...
Mrs. Suszynski, Mrs. Woodrow - 3
Mrs. Burress - 4
Mrs. Ferguson, Mrs. Bates, Mrs. Turk - 5
Mrs. Dinko - 6
Mrs. Elliott - 9
If you are not sure if your Annual Update has been completed, please contact the office. Thank you!

Munson Staff Spotlight
Each week, the Munson Messenger newsletter will feature a Munson staff member with whom your child likely interacts regularly. We hope this gives you a chance to get to know more of our wonderful staff members! This week, meet Mrs. Rohrich!
What is your name and your job? Angelica Rohrich, I'm the library media specialist and also the technology teacher.
How long have you been at Munson? This is my 9th year at Munson.
What is your favorite thing about Munson? I love our students and our staff! We've built a genuine camaraderie at Munson and it shows in our daily interactions.
What do you like to do outside of school? I love reading, playing sports, watching my kids play sports, taking beach vacations with my family, game nights with friends, and snuggling with my dog!

Follow the Munson PTO on Facebook and Instagram (@MunsonPTO) for news and regular updates on upcoming events. You can also email munsonelementarypto@gmail.com with questions or ideas. All Munson parents/guardians are automatically PTO members just by having a student attending Munson! We need volunteers with all kinds of availability, skills, and ideas. Thank you for your support!

PTO Drive In Movie TONIGHT!

PTO Bylaws Revisions
The PTO periodically reviews and updates its bylaws. Based on our team's discussions in April, we are proposing the following changes. Since ALL Munson parents/guardians/staff are PTO members, please feel free to review the suggestions and direct any questions, comments, or concerns to munsonelementarypto@gmail.com. Thank you!
-Allow for virtual attendance at meetings (post-pandemic world offers easy virtual options)
-Wording change from "April meeting" to "last meeting of the year" (in recent years, we have held our year end meeting in May)
-Update on board member duties (more thorough and current outlines)
-Allow a PTO debit card with proper monitoring via texts (modern technologies allow for easy monitoring tools to catch invalid use of a debit card; meanwhile, checks are becoming a risk as they have full account information on each check written)
-Wording change so that officer transition meetings match with the end of the fiscal year, not the beginning of the next school year (this ensures the budget can be completed by the start of school in August)
You can read the full PTO bylaws, with proposed revisions in green, by clicking the link below. Voting on the revisions will take place at the October 17 PTO meeting at 6pm at Buckeye Chocolate Cafe. Again, please direct any questions, comments, or concerns to munsonelementarypto@gmail.com.
Chili Cookoff - Help Us Build an Inclusive Playground!
Join the PTO for a chili cookoff to benefit the Inclusive Playground Fund! The Munson PTO is working hard to raise extra funds to update our playground equipment to be more accessible to all Munson students. We will be holding a Hoedown at the Ramsey family farm at 13175 Bass Lake Road on November 4 from 5-9pm. This event is open to the ENTIRE community, so bring your friends and neighbors! Chili tasting tickets will be sold, along with hot dogs, Fritos, party beverages, and more. Along with a chili cookoff, we will have a cake and wine walk, pumpkin bowling, dancing, and more fun!
