Genius Hour
Focus for 2019: How will this project help my community?
The Genius Hour
What is a problem in our world today that you would like to help find an answer for?
If you could improve anything in the world, what would it be? What are the questions that will help you find answers for these problems? Can you do it alone or will you need a team of "geniuses"? Now, how do you turn that into a project?
Let's start at the beginning because it's a very good place to start.
Step #1
Think about the burning questions that you have. Do you have an idea for a service project? Do you want to try a new club or awareness program? Do you want to raise money for an organization? Do you want to build a web page or device that could make someone else's life better?
Step #2
Documentation is an important step in research. What did you learn today? Fill out your documentation form in Classroom.
Step #3
Now that you have approval for your project and have spent time researching, the real work begins. How will you let your Genius show?
How will I participate?
During the spring semester, each library day becomes Genius Hour. When we return from class, you will work on your Genius Hour projects. You will lead this research with some guidance from Mrs. Hinders. How much time you spend on this project depends on you. How driven are you?
What are the rules?
Rule #1
Your proposal must be approved by me and be school appropriate.
Rule #2
Your project must be researched using credible information. If it is something that a simple Google search can find, it is not truly research.
Rule #3
The goal is to create a final product to be shared. The products will vary. We may have multi-media presentations, books, songs, pieces of art, posters, speeches, web pages, etc. These presentations are not restricted to just the classroom. Let's see how far and wide we can spread our Genius!
