School Supplies 2023-2024
School Supply contributions are now being accepted. Please read this letter for the details.
Free Lunch and Breakfast 2023-2024
Thanks to Colorado voters, breakfast and lunch will be free for students next year at your school! Students can eat a free breakfast and a free lunch, complete with unlimited salad bar, every day! Students will continue to enter their student ID, and optional second entrees can be purchased when available using money in each student’s meal account. Even though lunch is free next year, it is still very important that you fill out the free and reduced meal application, as it impacts funding for your school. Please find the link to that application via Infinite Campus here.
At BVSD, we believe in nutritious, locally-sourced ingredients and tasty meals, and we’re thrilled to be able to offer free meals to all students. We’re a leader in scratch-cooked school food, and we look forward to serving more students than ever next year! Learn more at food.bvsd.org.
Free & Reduced Application
Even though lunch will be free this year, we encourage families to complete the free and reduced meal application. It is important to do so, as it waives and reduces fees district-wide for families, can impact transportation, and impacts important funding for individual schools.
Help will be available for those who need guidance filling out the form during the BVSD Help Center (Aug 10-12 & 14-15). For more information visit the Free and Reduced website.
Kindergarten Welcome Days
Kindergarten Welcome days are an opportunity for our new Kindergarten students to meet our teachers, some of their classmates, and get a feel for what a full school day is like. We divide the students by last names and give them and the teachers an opportunity to know each other before students are placed into their classes.
Wednesday, August 16 - Last name starting with A-L
Thursday, August 17 - Last name starting with M-Z
Friday, August 18 - All Kindergarten students
Students will attend either August 16 or 17 for the full day (7:50 am-2:50 pm). Friday, August 18 will be all kindergarten students 7:50 am-2:00 pm. You can join us for popsicles at 2:00 pm on the 18th to meet members of the community and staff on this day. Please bring your child to the kindergarten playground at 7:50 am all these three days.
**Please note that the popsicles and Meet the Teacher is at 2:00 pm on Aug. 18. We apologize to the error in last week’s e-blast and any confusion it caused. **
This information was sent in a communication to Kindergarten families. If you have an incoming Kindergartener and did not receive that email please reach out to Edit Morquecho at edit.morquecho@bvsd.org or 720-561-2803.
Late-Start Wednesdays
After the first week of school, each Wednesday there will be a district-wide 1-hour late start for all schools. This will allow professional learning time for teacher. School will begin at 8:50 AM on Wednesdays beginning on August 23rd.
Elementary schools across BVSD will be hosting child care for families who need it on Wednesday late starts beginning at 7:40 am in the school cafeteria.
In order for our school to plan for this, please fill out this Google form if you intend to bring your child to child care on late-start Wednesdays.
*Please fill out a separate form for each child in your household who will need childcare on late start Wednesdays.*
If your child will not be accessing BVSD care on Wednesdays, there is no need to fill out this form.
Counselor Corner
Greetings Crest View families and community,
I wanted to introduce myself as well as pass along a few resources as you and your family get ready for the new school year. My name is Carl Sanchez and I am thrilled to be your new counselor at Crest View Elementary. I have big shoes to fill from Ms. Modell. I have had the privilege of serving as a school counselor in BVSD for nearly two decades as an elementary counselor in Lafayette as well as the middle level.
My belief is that schools should be a safe place where everyone feels a sense of belonging and learning is fun and engaging. I encourage an open and compassionate approach to addressing challenges, and I am always here to lend a helping hand. My door is wide open, so please don't hesitate to reach out for any assistance or guidance.
I am eagerly looking forward to meeting each of you and getting to know your wonderful students. Together, let's create a thriving and inclusive community at Crest View Elementary.
During this time, it is very very common for students and families to have a mix of emotions with the transition back-to-school. Please see below for resources to help your family have a smoother start to the upcoming school year.
