Hooray! As of today, July 31st, TMS athletics are scheduled to proceed with fall sports. If you have a student interested in playing a fall sport, please have them sign up using the links below if they haven't already. While not a lot has changed since the last newsletter, please review the information below.

We have updated information in the following sections:

- "COVID Guidelines" with more detailed information and guidance.

- "Athletic Paperwork"

- "Eventlink/Schedules"

The other sections are the same, but please take some time to ensure you have important dates, especially for football and cheerleading; which starts before the first scheduled school day.

If you have any questions, please email Mr. Leach (cleach@tcsc.k12.in.us) or Mrs. Whitesell (lwhitesell@tcsc.k12.in.us).

We ask that you remain patient with us as things can change quickly. Our goal is to provide as many athletic opportunities as possible while also keeping athletes, coaches, and fans safe!

Thank you,

Mr. Leach

COVID Guidelines

At Tipton Middle School, we will use the IHSAA guidelines for Extra Curricular Activities. An outline of the Phases can be found here on pages 18-25. Phase II is scheduled to end on August 15th.

Masks

All student-athletes should have a mask with them at all times. Coaches will determine, and direct, athletes when they should wear a mask. This will primarily include times when athletes cannot observe social distancing, and are not doing strenuous exercise.

Water

Water fountains will not be available, but the bottle fillers will be, so we are asking that all athletes bring their own water bottle; labeled with their first and last name to each practice.

Locker Rooms

Fall athletes will not be assigned an athletic locker this year (excluding football). For any practice before the start of school, athletes should arrive to practice, dressed and ready. They should leave practice and go home immediately after practice. Once school begins, only football players will be given a locker to store their pads, helmet, and cleats. All other athletes will use the locker room in small groups to change into their practice gear for practice, but should go home directly after practice.

The IHSAA is urging athletes to clean all clothing after every practice or event; and to bathe immediately at home.

Pre-Screening

As part of the guidelines, student-athletes will be required to complete a pre-screening before each practice or athletic event. This includes completing a Google Form before being allowed to participate- everyday. Coaches will provide more guidance about that process at initial team meetings.

Please note: I understand the guidelines may seem like a lot, but anything we can do to limit the spread of COVID-19 will help ensure we can continue with athletics for the entire season. This will require a strong partnership between parents, athletes, and coaches. Bottom line: We want Blue Devils athletes on our fields, courts, etc.; but only if it can be done safely.
