A Peek at Next Week
Writing - Writers are spending time each day writing poetry. This week they will use areas of concern and wonder as writing doors. They will also write in concrete form. We will review devices poets use when writing and pick a favorite poem to refine.
Reading - Readers begin the next unit this week, narrative non-fiction. Students will use narrative non-fiction stories to determine point of view, character's traits, feelings, and motivations, along with using context clues to determine word meaning. We will compare stories with similar topics, ideas, or themes.
Math - This week students will continue with multiplication and division, concentrating on multiplying larger numbers. Students will learn strategies for multiplying by 10s, along with larger numbers. The commutative and associative properties will be employed.
Science - "Objects in the Sky" Scientists will continue to learn about the sun this week, along with the Earth and moon.
Social Studies - "How Do People Improve Their Communities?" Students will learn about some important people and their contributions to society. They will see how just one person can make a difference.
Wednesdays are Class T-Shirt Day!
