TWHS FINAL EXAM INFORMATION
FINAL EXAM EXEMPTION POLICY
At the end of each eighteen-week grading period, students will take midterm and/or final exams. Students are only eligible for exemption from final exams, not midterm exams. Seniors are eligible for final exam exemptions in both the Fall and Spring semesters. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are only eligible for final exam exemptions in the Spring semester.
Absences include all days missed: Excused and Unexcused. Pre-approved absences, DOC’s, and hospital stays count against exemptions. School field trips, athletic events, UIL events, HCPs (health care provider - student attended school part of the day), PREs (present), GLOs (grade level office), ECLs (election clerk), CTZs (citizenship), NATs (naturalization), CVs (up to two College Visits) and religious holidays are not considered absences. Any student that has served ISS, DAEP, or OSS while enrolled in a course in the spring semester is not eligible for an exam exemption for that particular course.
A student granted a final exam exemption must still attend that class during the final exam period. Failure to attend and stay the entire period will result in a zero or an incomplete for that course.
To qualify for an exemption on Final Exams, the student must meet the following criteria:
18 Week Courses:
Average of 85 or better with only 2 absences
Average of 90 or better with only 3 absences
Year Long Courses:
Average of 85 or better with only 4 absences
Average of 90 or better with only 5 absences

Students are encouraged to get a good night’s rest the night before and eat a healthy breakfast before the exam.
Smart Phone/Watches Testing Policy – Students will be asked to power down their cell phones and smartwatches and stow them in their backpacks for the duration of the test. If they do not have a backpack, they will be asked to turn in their cell phone and smartwatches to the test administrator. Students are not allowed to access personal electronic devices while the test is being administered.
The use of phones and laptops will not be allowed until testing is complete, as this will interfere with WiFi access points needed for testing.
Our teachers have been working with students to prepare to take the STAAR EOC exams. All STAAR EOC exams at the high school level are required for graduation. The Texas legislature passed HB4545. HB 4545 establishes new requirements for accelerated instruction including 30 hours of tutoring for students who do not pass (this includes those that do not take) the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®). If you have questions about EOCs, graduation, or HB4545 requirements please contact your student’s counselor.
Students can practice using the online platform at www.texasassessment.gov > students and families > practice test login > sign in as a guest user > grade level is EOC > choose a test to practice

CLINIC NOTES:
If your student has received any vaccines this school year, feel free to send a copy or screenshot to the clinic at school so that we can have the record on file. You can also email it to aransley@conroeisd.net for the Senior Campus, or efalcon@conroeisd.net for the Ninth Grade Campus.
If you have a graduating senior, please be sure to request a copy of their vaccine record (if needed) to be picked up by your student or emailed to you before May 26th. We are not able to fulfill requests made during the summer, and we do not submit vaccine records to schools. Colleges and universities require an additional dose of the Meningitis (MCV4) vaccine that is received on or after the 16th birthday, and you may want to also discuss the optional Meningitis B vaccine with your child's doctor. That is a newer vaccine that is available to children ages 16-18, and it protects against an additional strain of the meningococcal bacteria.
As you begin to schedule summer doctor's appointments or physicals, please be sure to have your child's doctor renew their school orders for the 2023-2024 school year. We do require new orders each year for chronic conditions that could possibly require treatment or medication at school, such as asthma, severe allergies, seizures, and diabetes. If your child requires a physical and has a chronic condition, please submit a copy of doctor’s orders for next school year attached to their physical, and also turn in a copy to the clinic. Please visit the Health Services website, https://www.conroeisd.net/department/health-services/ for blank copies of those forms.
