Teacher Talk
It sounded like everyone had a great three day weekend based upon our Morning Meeting conversation Monday morning! I think I speak for everyone when I say that the morning was hard because we played and partied a lot over the weekend.
Tuesday is Spring picture day! We will do the group picture and then individual shots at 10am. Please bring all money in by tomorrow morning. (Forms went home last week.)

Concepts We'll Study
We are loving the novel Because of Winn Dixie! We've had a great time learning about the main characters Opal and Winn-Dixie. We've already noticed changes in these characters. We will continue to study character changes, cause & effect, infer what we think are character traits and other goodies!
Students are welcome to bring in a copy of this novel. PLEASE DO NOT READ IT AHEAD OF TIME!!!
Writing Workshop:
We collected quite a bit of new ideas about small moments from our lives. We learned about the power of "AND" when we are writing. We will continue to work on compound sentences, showing our story instead of just telling an action, and of course; we'll revise and edit with partners.
Science:
Science is all about ecosystems right now. We are looking at habitats, food chains, and learning how living and nonliving things support each other. This is a fun unit to take all of that prior knowledge and use towards making deeper connections about the natural world. We have noticed and created food chains of local habitats.
Math:
Students are working on a big unit at the moment. We are exploring many ways to measure. This past week was about perimeter. Next up is capacity, temperature, weight and length. We will be posing several real world problems for students to puzzle out. None will involve figuring out the weight of the teacher... (This is the final week of this unit.)
