Sammons Family Newsletter
February
Greetings from the Principal!
Dear Parents,
February has quickly arrived and we are now getting ourselves ready to head into a February Break. There will not be any classes for the week of February 5-9. Classes will resume on February 12. I continue to encourage you to ensure that your child is at school everyday and if for some reason they are absent please make sure to send a note or doctor's note to school so that it can be documented in their file.
Last month we had our first event in which parents were invited to come out and have a treat with their child for those students who had Perfect Attendance for the 2nd Nine weeks. My plan is to have another similar event for the end of the 3rd Nine Weeks so that parents can have another opportunity to come join us to celebrate our students.
I wanted to take this to share the news of our Campus SHABE Bilingual and ESL teachers of the year. Please help me congratulate Mrs. Eleonora Davila, 2nd Grade Bilingual teacher and Mrs. Marlo Thomas-Miller, 4th Grade ESL/Regular Ed teacher. We are thrilled to have them as part of our campus and thankful for their dedication to our students.
I want to conclude this message to say, Thank you for what you do everyday for your child. We cannot do this work without your help. We are glad you are part of our Sammons community.
Respectfully,
Ms. Acosta

Message from the Assistant Principal
Hello Parents,
February is the border between Winter and Spring. It is a short and sweet month. On February 2, 2024 we recognized and celebrated our 2nd 9 weeks All “A” and A/B Honor Roll scholars with a pizza party. We also gave sweet treats to our students who received E’s in conduct. We love to celebrate our scholars for being here everyday, and for having good behavior and making good grades. Thank you parents for encouraging your students to do their best and make good choices.
This month we will be celebrating the 100th day of school, Black History Month and hosting a Valentine’s Day Dance for our scholars.
Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will be given the Math STAAR Interim on February 13th and 5th grade will also complete the Science STAAR Interim on February 15th.
Peace, Love and Happiness

Notes from our School Nurse
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. Our children can avoid cavities. The theme is “Brush; Floss, and Smile!” We need to remind them that brushing your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between your teeth daily, eating a healthy diet that limits sugary beverage and snacks, and seeing your dentist regularly for prevention and treatment of oral disease are the keys to a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. Let’s keep them smiling!
Best Regards, Nurse Blake
