Fall Assessment Information
We are in the middle of fall assessments. These assessments help our teachers plan instruction that will meet your child where he/she is and move your child forward. Students in grades 2 - 5 will be taking Scantron Global Scholar. The initial testing sessions for reading, math, and science(5th only) will be set at 60 minutes. Students who do not finish in that time will be allowed additional opportunities to finish their tests. Not finishing in 60 minutes just means your child is being very diligent and may be getting harder questions that take more thought and time.
You can help by making sure your students are here and on time on their assigned testing day (and every other day, too). They will need earphones/earbuds for the math portion of the test, so make sure to send those. Students will use their Chromebooks, so these need to be brought to school fully charged each day.
Testing Schedule:
K - 1st - ongoing assessments in their classrooms
5th Grade: August 21 - 23
4th Grade: August 28 - 29
3rd Grade: August 28-29
2nd Grade: September 4 - 5
Thanks for your part in helping us gather this important data as we start the school year.

Memorial Gift Opportunity for Ms. Morgan
If you would like to make a memorial gift in her memory, the PTA has opened a special account at the Greystone Branch of Regions Bank. The account is called the "Teacher Memorial Account - Greystone" The last four digits of the account will be needed at the time of donation: 8491. The Greystone Faculty and Staff, as well as the Greystone PTA, will work together to determine how to use these funds to leave a lasting memory of Mrs. Morgan at Greystone.
A Note From Your PTA President!
We are looking forward to a fantastic year here at Greystone Elementary School!
My name is Tabitha Frazier, and my third child is in first grade this year in Mrs. Coston’s class. I also have a seventh grader at Berry Middle School (who attended GSES) and a sophomore at Spain Park High School.
As the President of Greystone PTA this year, I want you to know that we are committed to enhancing the lives of our students and teachers. We do this through various events, grants, and programs. Our main fundraiser for 2018-19 will be our annual Leave A Legacy campaign, which will be held the first week of October, beginning October 2, 2018. You will receive detailed information about this as our school year progresses. The best thing about this fundraiser is that Greystone Elementary keeps absolutely 100% of the proceeds!
Along with our fundraising, volunteers are essential in keeping our PTA active and influential. We are blessed with many great volunteers at Greystone, and we always need more as we continually develop new ways to enrich our school. I encourage you to let us help you find a way you can volunteer that suits your interests and schedule. Whether it is for just one hour this year or for regularly-occurring volunteering, we welcome you to join us however you can to continue to support our school! Our coordinators this year are Whitney Wilson (whitneywilson34@me.com) and Ashley Hibbard (ashleyhibbard@yahoo.com). They would love to chat with you about volunteer opportunities!
Our monthly meetings are scheduled for the last Thursday of most months at 10:30 a.m., and they are open for all to attend. (December and May will vary.) Also, please find, like, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram at Greystone Elementary PTA. That is a great way to keep up with all the exciting and fun things we have planned for this year! Thank you for supporting Greystone Elementary School. I look forward to a wonderful year serving with you!
Sincerely,
Tabitha Frazier
