TAMANEND FEATURES
Tamanend 7th Grader Develops Voice Skill for Amazon's Alexa
Tamanend Middle School seventh grade student Alaina Ahuja loves learning about technology – and she’s years ahead of her age in terms of expertise and capability. She loves to code – and recently wondered if there was a way to use her skills to make it easier for her family, and others in Central Bucks, to keep track of events.
Her solution? Develop a “voice skill” for Amazon’s Alexa. After considering and coding – Amazon reviewed and accepted her “skill,” and recently launched it for download in the Amazon Alexa store – find it at https://tinyurl.com/y4o7zzmb. Once downloaded, Amazon Alexa users can simply state, “Alexa, open Central Bucks,” or “Alexa, ask Central Bucks about Titus,” and hear a list of the day’s events on the calendar.
Alaina’s skill is now available for the district’s main website calendar; Barclay, Bridge Valley, Buckingham, Titus, and Jamison elementary schools; as well as Tamanend and Unami middle schools; and Central Bucks High School South.
Learn more about Alaina’s passion for technology on her website at www.alainaahuja.com. #CBSDPROUD of you, Alaina!
