Super Star News Update

April 11- April 15

“Valor is strength, not of legs and arms, but of heart and soul; it consists not in the worth of our horse or our weapons, but in our own.” ― Michel de Montaigne, Cannibales

Hunt's Corner

Kuddos to the MANY hands and flexible fingers involved in our STAAR Blitz! It has been exciting to see our students in small groups, learning at their levels and showing progress as we prep for the upcoming tests and to ensure our students are ready for promotion to the next grade level! THANK YOU for your teamwork, unified vision, and support of each other! It takes a TRUE Team, and you model this each and every day.

On another note, have you seen our kids writing? They are enthusiastic about their journals, sentences, and stories, proud to show off how much they have grown and learned! We have made critical writing across content areas one of our goals this year, and I am proud to see the creative ways you challenge our students to write across the campus and grade levels. Our students are growing. The impact is clear. Keep up the GREAT work, folks.

Items to Note

  • Survey: Parent Involvement--
  • Campus Communicator: As we look to continue to increase our parent communication and social media presence, a stipend will be offered next year for a Campus Communicator. This person will be the "eyes, ears, and voice between the CISD Communications department and our campus." The 2-week application window will open April 13. I would love to discuss with you if you are interested.
  • Staff Meeting this week: Technology Treats, hosted by Michelle Bothel! (Please come prepared with your devices!)
  • Spring Break Shut-Down: Our campus was at 96%, and the only two classes not shut down---had subs!! Thank you for doing a GREAT job to close blinds, shut off lights, and be mindful of energy savings. You make our school look good, and make a difference on the environment at the same time!! :)
  • Perot Museum Family Science Night: Please remember to mark you calendars and plan to attend Thursday, 4/14. The Museum will bring experiments and stations for our families to explore. More info to come!
  • CISD Discovery Night: Please encourage 4th grade parents to participate at the CTE, beginning at 6PM. Our 4th graders will have the chance to learn about the Young Men's, Young Women's, and Fine Arts Academies available in programs of choice at CISD Intermediate campuses. If you or parents you know have 5th-8th graders, I encourage you to attend. Early College High School will be available, as well as STEM and other programs. Great opportunity to "Discover" options for our children!
  • Sherry, thank you for sending your students to lead us in Announcements last week. We're looking forward to hearing from Christin's class!
